Austen Kroll recalls ‘tough’ reunion with Olivia Flowers after her brother died

An emotional Austen Kroll recalled the first time he saw his ex Olivia Flowers after her brother died earlier this year.

“It was kind of like a moment that I’ll never forget,” the “Southern Charm” star told Andy Cohen on Thursday night’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live.”

Kroll explained that he tried to get in touch with Flowers many times after her brother passed, but he couldn’t reach her.

When she eventually called him back, he flew “out the door” and went straight to her.

“I ran down to see her, and we just had this rom-com movie moment of just like meeting in the driveway and collapsing into each other and it was just a moment you can’t really describe.”

Flowers’ 32-year-old brother, Conner, died from an accidental fentanyl overdose on Jan. 30 after struggling with substance abuse for years.

“I ran down to see her, and we just had this rom-com movie moment of just like meeting in the driveway and collapsing into each other and it was just a moment you can’t really describe,” he tearfully remembered.

Kroll and Flowers had broken up in mid-to-late 2022, months before her tragic loss, but the “Pillows and Beer” host thought he should be there for her, as he, too, had lost a sibling.

“It was very tough for me because I felt like … I should be the one who’s there for her, but I’ve obviously chosen not to be that person,” he explained to Cohen of his conflicting feelings, following their breakup and Conner’s death.

“And then this tragedy kind of happens and I’m known to be an over-thinker.”

Kroll, 36, continued, “I was like, ‘This is not that time to be the over-thinker that you are,’ so I [told myself], ‘Just shut up and do what you should do and go and see her, and just hug her.’”

The Bravolebrity went on to explain that his sister passed away when he was just 7 years old and the pain from such a loss never subsides.

Page Six exclusively obtained the coroner’s report for Conner Thursday, which revealed he was found near a syringe with “red liquid” and a “clear plastic bag containing a green powder residue.”

The report also revealed he had gotten out of rehab two days before his death.

Flowers, 31, revealed this week that Conner suffered from debilitating pain as a result of Lymes disease and he used opioids to help manage his discomfort.

“He started depending, at a very young age, on this prescription medicine to feel normal,” she told People. “And we as a family started to see this toll it took on his body.”

Flowers revealed on “Southern Charm” in October that her brother said he was proud of her during their final conversation before his death.

“He always maintained that he had a problem,” she added.

“It was never a fight to get him to go to rehab; anytime my parents would get him help, it was because asked for it.”

In an October episode of “Southern Charm,” Flowers revealed the heartbreaking final conversation she had with her brother.

“Southern Charm” cast member Taylor Ann Green lost her brother, Richard Worthington Green, in June at the age of 36.

“One of the last things he said to me was like, ‘You’re doing everything right. You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. And … I hope you can look at me and be proud of me like I’m proud of you,’” she tearfully recalled in a confessional.

Flowers and Kroll aren’t the only “Southern Charm” stars to have lost a sibling; Taylor Ann Green lost her brother, Richard Worthington Green, in June at the age of 36.

“Not enough words can encapsulate who Worth was and the impact he left behind,” the 28-year-old reality star, 28, wrote in a June 19 Instagram post.

“June 8th, 2023 The Lord called you home. We are going to miss your goofiness, your bear hugs, and that infectious laugh.”
