‘Candy Cane Lane’ star D.C. Young Fly spends first holiday season since passing of partner Jackie Oh

D.C. Young Fly — the YouTuber who starred in Nick Cannon’s show, “Wild N’ Out” — is spending his first holiday season with his family since the tragic death of his late partner, Jacklyn “Jackie Oh” Smith.

The couple shared three children — Nova, 6, Nala, 2, and Prince Nehemiah, who is under a year old.

“Mothers are definitely needed in the household,” the grieving father told us. “A mother is a nurturing spirit, the father is a protector. You need nurturing spirits around at all times. So definitely a mother’s needed.”

Smith passed away at age 33 in May due to complications during plastic surgery. She’d traveled to Miami, Fla., to undergo a “gluteal augmentation” — also known as the popular “Brazilian butt lift.”

It was later ruled by the local coroner that the death was an accident.

D.C. Young Fly told Page Six of parenting his children: “I don’t have a feminine side. I am a king who learns how to be nurturing… I can go out [and] fight, provide and protect. But when you go home, you have to have a soft side, because they are kids that you have to nurture, and make sure they’re taken care of. But there is no feminine energy over here. You just got to learn how to speak to them, that’s all.”

The “Celebrity Squares” host co-stars with Eddie Murphy, 62, and Tracee Ellis Ross, 51, in the new Christmas comedy “Candy Cane Lane,” in which Murphy plays a man on a mission to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas home decoration contest.

D.C. Young Fly, 31, further told us of his life off-camera today, “Everything [is] smooth, you know, we just stay prayed up. Keeping the energy right, and just knowing that everything is going to be all right, [as] long as you stay positive, and have an optimistic mindset — and just knowing that the energy is always with a higher power — [you’re going to] be all right.”

The star said that Murphy was a mentor on their new film’s set.

“He told me, ‘keep an hour of material in your back pocket so you can always be on stage,’” the star said of Murphy’s comedy advice.

He added, “I’m going to keep the hour of material in my back pocket at all times,” and told us that Murphy also told him to “make sure that fire never burns out for the stage.”
