Charli and Dixie D’Amelio face backlash for ‘working’ at Walmart in viral clip

Influencers turned reality TV stars Charli and Dixie D’Amelio are under fire for “cosplaying” as minimum wage workers at Walmart.

The sisters dressed up in cashier uniforms at the supermarket giant for a comedic TikTok video promoting their new popcorn brand.

In the clip, the duo smiled and laughed while pretending to ring up bags of their Be Happy Snacks popcorn at the cash register.

However, the joke didn’t land with many of their fans.

“i wish i had enough money to cosplay as a retail worker, so fun being in the working class,” one TikTok user commented on the recent clip.

Another wrote that they were “seeing this after working 12hr shifts 4 days a week to barely afford to live.”

Meanwhile, a third person chimed in, “I feel like this makes a mockery of working class jobs but okay,” as another quipped, “Why do rich people always try so hard to be relatable?”

“Let me take this in a positive way. she is trying to connect with her audience or she want to experience different aspects of life,” one fan wrote in an attempt to defend Charli, 19, and Dixie, 22.

“It could be seen as an attempt to connect with her audience,” another person added.

The video was posted to promote their new Be Happy Snacks popcorn.

“I feel like this makes a mockery of working class jobs but okay,” one person commented on the sisters’ videos.

The possible reasoning behind their latest stunt is that Be Happy Snacks, which they launched with their parents Marc and Heidi D’Amelio, will be sold exclusively at Walmart.

The brand’s name was inspired Dixie’s 2020 song, “Be Happy,” she told People last week.

“It is so personal for me and obviously became a little bit of a meme during quarantine like, ‘Be Happy.’ Sometimes I don’t want to be happy,” she explained.

“It’s so cool that it’s still part of what we’re doing and our family. Plus, it looks really cool on the bag.”

Charli has been dating Landon Barker since 2022.

She also talked to the outlet about a recent misunderstanding that led fans to believe her younger sister, Charli, was pregnant with boyfriend Landon Barker’s child.

“[Charli] did an interview the other day … and I had multiple people text me asking how your baby was,” Dixie began.

She noted that the interviewer asked the couple about their new “baby,” in reference to the puppy they recently adopted.

The “Dancing with the Stars” alum recently revealed her fans thought she was pregnant.

“It was in front of a live audience,” the “Dancing with the Stars” alum chimed in.

“So I got to see everyone’s faces, and I was like, ‘Oh, my goodness.’”

Charli has been with Travis Barker’s son for more than a year, while Dixie is rumored to be seeing hockey player Trevor Zegras.
