So confident is Brinkley in her beautiful skin that she calls out the haters and won’t let them win. (Hey, we can rhyme too!) In 2023, she posted a selfie that appeared to show some signs of age, and trolls pounced on the detail. Brinkley shut them down by commenting, “Whoa Nelly! The Wrinkle Brigade is out in full force in the comment thread!”
Among Brinkley’s legion of fans are her three children. Daughter Sailor Brinkley Cook said of her birthday selfie, “Cutie,” while son Jack Brinkley Cook’s reaction was, “What a rockstar.” On Brinkley’s actual birthday, Alexa Ray Joel, her daughter with Billy Joel, honored her in an Instagram post that included the lyrics to a song in progress. Titled “Mother O’Mine,” it reads in part: “Christie Lee, Christie Lee / You’re the starry gal that they all wanna see / Shiny sweetness laid in rows of sunflower hair / When you’re in their sights, nobody can despair / And even through the hardening of time / They can’t hide the golden beauty, from this Mother O’ Mine. … They’ll never love you like I do … Christie Lee.” We should all be so lucky in our seventh decade.
