Danny Masterson knew Bijou Phillips would divorce him — but maybe not why

Danny Masterson was reportedly not shocked that his wife, Bijou Phillips, filed for divorce after he was sent to prison.

The convicted rapist — who will spend the next 30 years to life behind bars — was aware the actress would be ending their 12-year marriage, sources claimed to TMZ Friday.

The outlet reported that the pair’s main concern is their 9-year-old daughter, Fianna.

But there seems to be more to Phillips’ decision than meets the eye, as sources told DailyMail.com that the former socialite’s reasoning is “twofold.”

“Recently, friends and family have told her to be a mom first and to consider divorce because it really shows her daughter that eventually people need to be held accountable for what they do, even if it is someone they love,” an insider claimed.

“Bijou also is doing it to protect her assets and protect her future. She doesn’t want to lose money and land and housing over a future civil lawsuit against Danny.”

Phillips stayed by the “That ’70s Show” star’s side through his June 2020 indictment and May conviction on two counts of rape, even writing the judge overseeing the trial a letter in his defense ahead of his sentencing earlier this month.

“We need him more than you can imagine. I know he has been convicted of serious crimes,” Phillips penned, “but the man I married has only been an extraordinary husband to me and a devoted father to our daughter.”

The “Raising Hope” star, 43, referred to Masterson, 47, as a “life-saving partner” and insisted that although he had been locked up, he remained involved in Fianna’s daily life.

“He helps her with homework every night. He teaches her math with kindness and patience,” she claimed.

“She is far above grade level in all subjects, reading three grades above her own, and that is thanks to the guidance and attention of her father.”

However, Phillips filed for divorce on Monday — less than two weeks after the disgraced actor learned his fate.

She cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split and listed the date of separation as “TBD,” which means to be determined.

Phillips is seeking spousal support as well as full legal and physical custody of their only child.

She also requested that any financial support for Masterson be denied.
