David Letterman slams Taylor Swift’s NFL critics while hilariously mixing up Travis Kelce and Kelsey Grammer

David Letterman proved he’s a Swiftie when he told Taylor Swift’s NFL haters to “shut up.”

The former talk show host showed his love for the “Bad Blood” songstress and her romance with Travis Kelce, whom he accidentally confused with “Frasier” actor Kelsey Grammer.

“Here’s Taylor Swift, who is a glowing bright light of goodness in the world and she starts dating Kelsey Grammer,” Letterman said on “The Barbara Gaines Show” in October.

“No, that’s not true,” Gaines chimed in as Letterman insisted he was correct before continuing.

“People go crazy [about seeing Swift on TV],” he added. “The [Kelce] people say, ‘No, no, don’t bother us. We’re all caught up in football. We don’t want Taylor in football.’”

The “Late Show with David Letterman” alum — who was then corrected by a producer that Swift was dating Kelce — added the hate she gets is a bunch of “nonsense and ugliness.”

“This is such a lovely thing. Shut up!” Letterman, 76, continued. “It’s good for the footballers, it’s good for Taylor Swift, and it’s something positive and happy for the world. … So hats off to Taylor Swift.”

Swift — who took her romance with Kelce public when she showed up at a Kansas City Chiefs game in September 2023 — has faced criticism for her presence at games, which NFL cameras have frequently documented.

The 12-time Grammy winner, 34, responded to the backlash in December, saying she has no control over how much screen time she gets.

“I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in,” she said in her Time magazine Person of the Year interview.

“There’s a camera a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once.”

The “Cruel Summer” songstress added that she’s “just there to support Travis.”

“I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads,” she quipped.

The NFL fans’ overwhelming hostility toward Swift has even led Kelce, 34, and her new BFF Brittany Mahomes to show their support.

However, the “Love Story” singer has shown she can handle herself.

While cheering on her beau at the Chiefs game against the Baltimore Ravens Sunday, Swift clapped back at a fan who yelled, “You’ve ruined the NFL.”

“I didn’t do anything,” she responded while continuing to walk through M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore with Mahomes, 28.

But critics can expect to see more of Swift at Super Bowl 2024 since Page Six exclusively reported that she will be at the big game when the Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers on Feb. 11.
