Dolly Parton reveals relatable reason why she refuses to text: ‘I don’t want to have to answer’

Dolly Parton has no problem leaving you on read.

The country music icon gave a relatable explanation for why she refuses to text during an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show” Monday.

“I’m a low-tech girl in a high-tech world,” the “9 to 5” singer said in a clip posted to Instagram.

“I don’t want to talk to everybody that wants to talk to me. I don’t text ’cause I don’t want to have to answer,” she continued.

“If somebody calls me, I’ll answer it if I want to talk to ’em or I’ll call ’em back when I can. Otherwise, I’ve got too much to think about than to clutter my mind up with everything else.”

Parton, 77, further elaborated that her decision not to text is due to personal preference, rather than a lack of intelligence.

“I’m certainly not a stupid person. I could learn it if I wanted to, but I’d rather just have my fax machine [and] call in my creative stuff to my crew,” she told Barrymore, 48.

“And I’ve got the best crew in the world and I surround myself with great people, but I just don’t have time to just sit with my face in the phone all day.”

In fact, Parton’s goddaughter, Miley Cyrus, spilled in May 2022 that even she can’t reach the legendary songstress via text.

“Every time I coordinate and kind of communicate with Dolly, it’s still through fax,” the “Flowers” singer said during an appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” adding that her godmother is “rarely on the phone.”

“Well, we do use the phone, but she does a fax, and then someone scans the fax, and then they put it into a text message, and then that gets sent to me,” Cyrus, 31, clarified. “And it’s always signed.”

Meanwhile, the “Jolene” hitmaker’s candid comments about texting come after she sparked a media frenzy while promoting her latest album, “Rockstar,” which was released on Nov. 17.

Parton went viral when she dressed up as a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader for her halftime performance during the NFL team’s Thanksgiving game against the Washington Chargers.

The 10-time Grammy winner dazzled viewers as she hit the stage in a plunging crop top and white denim shorts.

“Dolly Parton is 77 and hotter than me,” one user tweeted, while another called the performer a “national treasure.”

Former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo also praised Parton, saying that she looked “amazing.”
