FKA Twigs’ scantily clad Calvin Klein ad banned after it’s deemed to ‘cause serious offense’

FKA Twigs’ Calvin Klein ad will no longer be shown in the UK after the country’s governing advertising regulator deemed the image “irresponsible and likely to cause serious offense.”

The controversial ad showed the 36-year-old wearing nothing but a shirt draped over her bare body. She covered her chest and showed off the side of her booty in the sultry shot.

The image also had “Calvins or nothing” written over it.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) reportedly received complaints from two people who thought the ad was inappropriate.

The UK’s regulatory organization said in a statement that the image needed to be pulled because it “used nudity and centered on FKA twigs’ physical features rather than the clothing, to the extent that it presented her as a stereotypical sexual object,” according to the Guardian.

The ASA reportedly added that the “image’s composition placed viewers’ focus on the model’s body rather than on the clothing being advertised.”

Twigs’ ad was first released in April 2023 and it’s unclear why it has caught the attention of critics just now.

However, the ASA reportedly said the image “must not appear again in the form complained of.”

Per the Guardian, people also complained about Kendall Jenner’s topless Calvin Klein ad, but the regulators ultimately ruled that a pic of the “Kardashians” star, 28, was not done “in a manner that portrayed her as a sexual object,” and was in line with other promotional content of a similar nature.

Page Six Style has reached out to Twigs’ rep for comment but did not immediately hear back, and it does not appear that the “Cellophane” singer has addressed the criticism.

It is likely that Twigs does not agree with the ASA, though, as her own social media frequently features risqué photos of herself.

In November 2023, the “Two Weeks” singer posted a video of herself on Instagram from a photoshoot with Viktor&Rolf fragrances, in which she was seen posing with a perfume bottle unclothed and only a sheer cloth vaguely covering her.

Calvin Klein, for its part, has defended Twigs’ ad, saying, “The images were not vulgar and were of two confident and empowered women who had chosen to identify with the Calvin Klein brand, and the ads contained a progressive and enlightened message,” per the Guardian.

Page Six Style has also reached out to the American fashion company for comment but did not immediately hear back.

The latest criticism comes on the heels of a viral ad Calvin Klein just released featuring “The Bear” star Jeremy Allen White.

The actor, 32, is seen in the black-and-white photos and videos showcasing his muscular physique, wearing only skin-tight underwear.
