Irish Grinstead, 702 singer known for ‘Where My Girls At,’ dead at 43

Irish Grinstead, a member of the popular ’90s and ’00s R&B group 702, has died. She was 43.

“It is with great sadness that I have to let you know that my beautiful sister and friend has passed away this evening,” the singer’s sister LeMisha Grinstead wrote via Instagram Saturday.

“She has had a long battle and she is finally at peace. That girl was as bright as the stars! She was not only beautiful on the outside, but also within.”

LeMisha, a fellow member of the “Where My Girls At” group, added that she will forever “cherish” the “joy” she had sharing the stage with her sister for the “rest of [her] life.”

The cause of Irish’s death has yet to be released.

The girl group previously shared via Instagram in December 2022 that Irish would be taking a “medical leave of absence due to serious medical issues” ahead of their upcoming performances.

Irish’s twin sister, Orish Grinstead, sadly passed away from kidney failure in 2008 at the age of 27.

702 — a group originally comprised of the Grinstead sisters and Kameelah Williams — made their debut in 1996 with their hit album “No Doubt.”

The single “Steelo” went on to become the theme song for Nickelodeon’s “Cousin Skeeter.”

In 1999, 702 released their self-titled album which included the nationwide hit “Where My Girls At.”

During their successes, the girl group was nominated for an American Music Award, a BET Award and multiple Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards for best R&B/soul album of the year by a group, band or duo.

702’s music was also featured in hit films like “Good Burger” and “Little Stuart.”
