Jennifer Williams of VH1’s ‘My True Scam Story’ had ‘liquid courage’ to air allegations against an ex

“Basketball Wives” star Jennifer Williams flipped a tale of private embarrassment into a new TV project with VH1, “My True Scam Story.”

The two-part series follows the real-life drama of how Williams became an unsuspecting victim in an alleged scam she says was orchestrated by an ex-boyfriend.

But Williams says it wasn’t easy for her to go public at first with the allegations back in 2020.

The reality star told Page Six that she needed some “liquid courage” in order to tell her followers that she was allegedly scammed by an ex-lover.

“I am a wine and champagne girl so I know I definitely needed some type of hard alcohol before I made that IG post,” she said of exposing her story publicly.

She told us, “Before I made the post, I made a margarita with a double shot of tequila and I topped it off with Hennessy. I had two of them and I posted and I was lit the entire night and my phone just blew up and then the DMs started coming in. It’s like when you drink you get liquid courage.”

She added: “I needed that because I did not know what the aftermath was going to be — so I said, ‘let me prepare myself.’”

Her ex-boyfriend has vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

The 48-year-old feels like she was targeted because of her fame and fortune.

Williams was previously married to former Celtics player, Eric Williams, 51, from 2007 to 2010.

She is now engaged to portfolio manager Christian Gold, 30, and tells us she, “does not plan on signing a prenup.”

“We are planning to get married in Paris. We do not plan on signing a prenup. I feel like it dooms a marriage before it even starts,” she said.

The star says she turned her heartbreak and embarrassment into her own story of power and redemption.

The series is executive produced by “Way Up With Yee” host Angela Yee and Kim Osorio.

Williams had a viewing party this month, and says that she is “no longer embarrassed” about the situation and “is over it,” but glad that “her story will get out to help others.”
