“Smile and wave, boys, smile and wave.“
Prince William and Kate Middleton smiled and ignored questions lobbed at them by reporters over Omid Scobie’s controversial new book, according to People.
While arriving Thursday evening at the Royal Variety Performance at the Albert Hall in London, reporters asked them, “Your Royal Highness, have you got a comment about Omid Scobie’s book?” and “Did you watch the Piers Morgan show last night, Your Royal Highnesses?”
The couple studiously ignored the comments and walked down the red carpet together, briefly holding hands before William put a hand on his wife’s back.
Reporters were referring to Scobie’s book, “Endgame,” which claimed that Megan Markle — who is biracial — named two royals who had taken part in alleged “troubling” conversations surrounding the complexion of her and Prince Harry’s then-unborn son, Archie, in letters to King Charles.

Scobie writes that he knows the identity of the two royals but did not name them due to libel laws.
However, several copies of the book translated into Dutch and released in Holland had the names accidentally printed.
Despite trying to keep the names under wraps, journalist Piers Morgan revealed the identity of the unnamed royals on his show “Piers Morgan Uncensored.”
According to Morgan, the names written were Charles, 75, and Middleton, 41.
The race issue was first raised during Markle and Harry’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.
In it, the “Suits” alum, 42, alleged that a member of the royal family had mused aloud “how dark” their son Archie’s skin would be when he was born in May 2019.
“All around this same time — we have in tandem the conversation of, ‘He won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title,’ and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born,” Markle said.
When asked about the conversation later in the interview, Harry, 39, admitted that it had been uncomfortable.
“That conversation I am never going to share, but at the time it was awkward, I was a bit shocked,” he said.
But he did say that discussion of “what will the kids look like?” came “right at the beginning.”
Days after the Winfrey interview aired, William was asked by a reporter if the royal family was racist, which he quickly shut down.
