Kensington Palace announced that Kate Middleton underwent a “planned” abdominal surgery on Tuesday.
“The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery,” the statement revealed, adding that she won’t return to public duties until around Easter.
The Princess of Wales, 42, expressed her desire to “maintain as much normality for her children as possible” and beyond the announcement have her personal information remain private.
Middleton and Prince William, 41, share three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
In light of her request for privacy, Kensington Palace said it will only share “significant” updates.
“The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements,” the statement concluded.
Kensington Palace did not give any insight into what the surgery was treating.
“She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”
Fans immediately flooded Kensington Palace’s Instagram post with well wishes for Middleton.
“Wishing the Princess a speedy recovery ❤️🩹,” commented one follower.
“Sending all the healing energy her way ❤️,” added another.
“Wishing the Princess of Wales a speedy recovery 🤍,” wrote a netizen.
King Charles and Queen Camilla have yet to comment publicly on Middleton’s health scare.
