Lila Moss, 21, had no idea that her mom, iconic supermodel Kate Moss, was kind of a big deal until about six years ago.
The mother-daughter duo graced the cover of British Vogue’s “Great Britain: Tradition & Revolution issue.”
And despite the fact that her mom is one of the world’s most successful supermodels, Lila admits she was blind to that fact until she started high school.
“I began to realize how fascinated people were by ‘Kate Moss, the supermodel,’” Moss shared. “It’s only at, like, 15 or 16 that I began to realize she might actually be pretty cool.”
“She always kept her work life separate from our home life,” Lila went on.
“Though I do have one memory of her taking me with her to a Topshop meeting, and everything grinding to a halt while she tried to teach me how to blow a bubble with bubblegum for the first time.”
The 21-year-old confessed she’s seen her mother as “the person who wouldn’t let [her] use [her] phone at the dinner table and made [her] come home from parties in Notting Hill earlier than any of [her] friends.”
Lila, who now boasts a modeling career in her own right, recalled how her dad, Jefferson Hack, alerted her to the fact that her mom is actually pretty cool.
“My dad said to me, ‘You do realize that your mom has a lot of pieces by some of these artists you love in your house, right? Marc Quinn, Francis Bacon, Damien Hirst…’”
Elsewhere, Kate explained how she managed to juggle motherhood with her intense modeling career after welcoming Lila in 2002.
“I kept working after I had Lila, of course, but I shifted most of my jobs to the UK and kept her away from the craziness of sets and backstage and everything,” the 49-year-old shared.

“It didn’t take long to realize she wanted mommy to be mommy, not a model in a wig.”
Lila said that her famous mom has “fully supported every decision” she’s made, including her bid to launch a modeling career of her own.
“I don’t know that my mom expected me to go into fashion, really — I’m quite shy, like her,” Lila said.
“She hasn’t helped me with my walk, though. She’s like, ‘You just have to feel it. I don’t know what I do. I just do it!’ I’m like, ‘Cool – off to practice some more, then…’”
