It’s not a bag, it’s a Birkin.
Kim Kardashian may have had a front row seat at the Los Angeles Lakers game, but unfortunately, her Hermès Birkin bag did not.
On Saturday, the Skims founder, 43, could be seen courtside at the basketball game, watching the NBA team take on the Golden State Warriors with her son, Saint West, 8, and her accessory made some waves with fans.
While Kardashian was dressed fairly casual, rocking a tight white tee with leather pants, all eyes happened to be on her pricey Hermès Birkin bag, which was casually sitting on the floor next to her feet.
The exact price tag of the specific accessory is unknown, but a similar crocodile leather design is currently up for resale on Sotheby’s website, priced at a whopping $40,000.
Seeing such an investment piece casually placed on the ground clearly upset a few people, and many took to Instagram to share their disappointment.
“That bag cost more than most people pay in yearly rent,” one person commented on a photo that showed Kardashian at the game. “Disgusting.”
Another commenter put it quite simply. “Birkin on the floor is insane,” they wrote, as another replied “I wouldn’t put my LV on the floor let alone a Birkin but that’s just me.”
Still, while the cost of a Birkin might seem a tad outrageous to some, Kardashian, who officially became a billionaire in 2021, owns a number of them.
Last November, she was seen carrying around a supersized Birkin bag that retails for $110,000, and the “Kardashians” star recently came under fire for reselling an old, “dirty” style for $70,000.
Even her daughter, North West, has a miniature, $10,000 version of this coveted design — something that shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, since back in 2014, the now 10-year-old was allowed to paint all over a different Hermès purse as a present for her mom.
Of course, Kardashian isn’t the only celebrity who treats her Birkin so casually. Last year, Jennifer Lopez — who was at the same game with husband Ben Affleck and his son Samuel — was spotted taking her own $200,000 Himalayan bag to the gym.
