Kyle Richards slams ‘idiots’ who claim she’s faking marriage woes: ‘Dumbest thing I’ve ever heard’

Kyle Richards blasted “idiots” who claim her marriage troubles with Mauricio Umansky are just a way of boosting ratings.

Appearing on the Bravo’s “Hot Mic” podcast Tuesday, the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” OG, 53, spoke to network exec Alex Baskin about the breakdown of her 27-year marriage to The Agency co-founder.

“What human being would create a story like this for? No offense, Alex. I love you and everybody with the show. But who would do that for ratings? Put their family through this,” Richards responded to the claim she is “fabricating” her relationship woes.

“That is one of the dumbest things I’ve maybe ever heard in these 13 years. I’m going to pretend that I’m separated and torture my children so that people tune in? I mean, it’s just the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.”

“I care about being relevant to my friends and family. Yes, I’m on television but I’m good,” she continued.

“I’m not looking to be more relevant. I’m good. And I would never put my family through this, ever, for … I almost said it was a dumb TV show, sorry.”

The mom of four said the allegations “couldn’t be any different than who I am” as she slammed the claims as “annoying” and “frustrating.”

“I also hear a lot of things online that, you know, ‘Oh, well, Kyle and Mauricio, they have an open marriage,’” she shared.

“The things that they say, that ‘Kyle is only with him for the money.’ He had no money when I married him, you idiots,” added Richards, who initiated the split from Umansky.

“He didn’t have any money! ‘Oh, she just stays there and puts up with all this so that she can keep spending his money.’ First of all, it’s our money that he didn’t have before.”

Page Six confirmed in July that the fan-favorite couple, who tied the knot in January 1996, decided to separate after 27 years of marriage.

The couple admitted to a “challenging” year in a joint Instagram statement, writing at the time, “We both love and respect each other tremendously. … There has been no wrongdoing on anyone’s part.”

The pair share three daughters together: Alexia, 27, Sophia, 23, and Portia, 15. Umansky also helped raise Farrah Brittany, 34, whom Richards welcomed in her first marriage.

Shortly after news of their separation came to light, Richards and Umansky released a joint statement clarifying that any reports of them “divorcing are untrue.”

Despite that, Richards accidentally referred to her marriage woes as “divorce” at this month’s BravoCon.
