Lee Sun-kyun’s widow bursts into tears at ‘Parasite’ star’s funeral after apparent suicide

Lee Sun-kyun’s widow became overcome with grief at the “Parasite” star’s funeral in South Korea on Friday — just days after his apparent suicide.

Jeon Hye-jin broke down in tears as she held hands with one of her sons while the other carried a portrait of his late dad.

A procession of friends and family could be seen trailing a hearse to which a set of pallbearers delivered the casket.

The service took place at Seoul National University Hospital’s funeral home.

Mourners paid their respects to Sun-kyun by sticking memos on a wall, one of which read, “Now please rest in peace.”

According to reports, the award-winning actor will be cremated, and his remains will be placed at a memorial park in the city of Gwangju.

Sun-kyun and Hye-jin, 47, married in 2009.

The former Miss Korea contestant called police earlier this week after reportedly discovering her husband’s suicide note. Authorities found Sun-kyun’s unresponsive body in his car at a park in Seoul, South Korea. He was 48.

Although no official cause of death has been given, police discovered a charcoal briquette next to him, which points to a possible carbon monoxide poisoning.

Prior to his apparent suicide, Sun-kyun had been at the center of an ongoing investigation into illicit drug use. He had participated in three rounds of questioning about his alleged use of marijuana and ketamine, though he vehemently denied the claims.

Authorities suspected Sun-kyun of using drugs at the residence of a hostess employed by a high-end bar in Seoul.

The “My Mister” star claimed the woman tricked him into taking drugs and maintained he was not aware of what he had ingested.

His drug tests all reportedly came back negative, including one conducted by the National Forensic Service last month.

Despite maintaining his innocence, Sun-kyun had been dropped from a series of projects, including the forthcoming drama “No Way Out.”
