Matt Shirvington left irritated after Sunrise co-host Natalie Barr points out Harry and Meghan’s ‘publicity stunt’

Sunrise host Matt ‘Shirvo’ Shirvington expressed his irritation with Harry and Meghan and their involvement with the Invictus Games on Monday’s show.

Shirvo, 44, was left disappointed after co-host Natalie Barr, 55, raised concerns about a potential ‘publicity stunt’ associated with the royal couple.

During the weekend, Prince Harry took centre stage to inaugurate the sixth edition of the Invictus Games at its opening ceremony, currently underway in Germany.

Meanwhile, Harry’s wife Meghan Markle was originally scheduled to deliver a speech at the Games’ closing ceremony next Saturday.

However, her name curiously disappeared from the schedule over the weekend, leaving many puzzled about the circumstances surrounding this change.

During a conversation with Russell Myers, the Royal Editor for the Daily Mirror, Nat asked about Meghan’s whereabouts.

The royal expert suggested that this news might potentially serve as a tactic to generate greater interest in the Invictus Games.

‘Oh okay, so this is actually a bit of a publicity stunt,’ Nat responded.

Nat elaborated on her theory: ‘Taking her off the schedule and getting us all to say, “I wonder whether she’ll still be on it.”‘

The royal editor the asked, ‘Who would say that now?’

In response, Nat quipped ‘You!’

Later, Shirvo pondered whether the extensive publicity surrounding the couple might overshadow the athletes who have dedicated years of training to reach this stage.

‘When you have this publicity it becomes all about them, then the Invictus Games and all those competitors lose out, don’t they?’ he said.
