Matthew Perry’s death investigation officially closed: cops

The investigation into Matthew Perry’s death officially has been closed nearly one month after a coroner announced the “Friends” star died from “acute effects of ketamine.”

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to People Tuesday that it would no longer be looking into Perry’s death.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner also said on its website that the case is “closed.”

The actor was found dead in his jacuzzi on Oct. 28, 2023. He was 54.

Authorities later confirmed that Perry had died before medical experts even arrived on the scene.

In addition to the ketamine, the coroner listed drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine effects as other conditions that contributed to his death. (Buprenorphine is a synthetic opioid used to treat addiction.)

The “Whole Nine Yards” star had been receiving ketamine infusions to help treat his addiction issues, but the coroner noted that Perry’s last infusion had been more than a week before his death.

Jennifer Aniston recently shared that her longtime friend and co-star had been “happy” and “healthy” before the untimely loss.

“He had quit smoking. He was getting in shape. He was happy — that’s all I know,” a teary-eyed Aniston told Variety in December as her “Morning Show” co-star Reese Witherspoon held her hand.

“I was literally texting with him that morning, funny Matty. He was not in pain. He wasn’t struggling. He was happy.”

The “Cake” actress, 54, emphasized that Perry had not relapsed despite what many people suspected in light of his years-long struggle with drug and alcohol addiction.

“I want people to know he was really healthy, and getting healthy. He was on a pursuit. He worked so hard,” she shared.

“He really was dealt a tough one. I miss him dearly. We all do. Boy, he made us laugh really hard.”
