Earlier this week, rumors began circulating that the 1975 frontman had proposed to his new girlfriend, but we’re told they are “completely false.”
Healy, 34, and Bechtel, 26, sparked engagement speculation after the lead vocalist of punk rock band Nasty Cherry was seen sporting a large stone on her left ring finger during a New York City outing with the UK native.
Bechtel, who is also an influencer, was photographed carrying her phone in her left hand, which gave paparazzi a clear shot of the seemingly new, eye-catching bauble.
She paired an all-black ensemble with minimal makeup and kept her dark pixie cut combed back.
Healy, who matched in a black puffer jacket and sunglasses, walked behind his leading lady with a cold beverage in hand.
Simultaneously, an anonymous tipster claimed to celebrity gossip site Deuxmoi, “not sure if you already posted about it or not but matty healy and gabriette are engaged.”
When a curious internet user asked Deuxmoi about the accuracy of the tip, the Instagram account insisted, “Source is reliable.”

Healy and Bechtel’s romance first made headlines in September when they were snapped taking a PDA-packed stroll around the Big Apple.
The musicians couldn’t get enough of each other as they held hands and kissed at just about every street corner.
They even squeezed in a makeout session while waiting at a restaurant.
The relationship marks Healy’s first since his short-lived fling with Taylor Swift, whom he dated from May to June.
The Grammy winner, 33, has since moved on with NFL star Travis Kelce.
