‘Meals by Cugine’ influencer Danny Mondello says Drake invited him to dinner, but ‘ghosted me’

Staten Island foodie influencer Danny Mondello — who is behind the wildly popular TikTok account Meals_by_cug — says Drake once asked him to the rapper’s favorite restaurant.

But Mondello is still waiting for the reservation to come through.

Mondello appeared on “Rent Free,” a monthly online game show hosted by Bilt Rewards founder Ankur Jain, in which celebs answer questions and the prize is free rent for fans and Bilt members.

On the latest episode of the show, Mondello revealed his favorite New York eateries as Emilio’s Ballato on Houston Street, Brooklyn pizza mecca Lucali and Staten Island sports bar and pizza joint Lee’s Tavern.

But he also told Jain about a certain Canadian rapper who randomly contacted him with a recommendation in his own hometown.

Drake supposedly reached out to influencer, Danny Mondello to try hot Toronto eatery Sotto Sotto.

“Who’s the most famous person who’s slipped into your DMs?” Jain asked “Cug.” (Cug is short for cugine, which means “cousin” in Italian.)

“Just to, like, say hello?” Mondello replied. “Drake I guess?”

He elaborated, “Yeah it was pretty cool. He was just like, ‘Come to Toronto and go to Sotto Sotto.’ I was like, ‘Alright, we’ll see.’”

Mondello is known for his reviews and recipes.

Sotto Sotto is a celeb favorite, and we’ve previously reported that Drake has been known to bring dates to the place.

He also has name-checked the hotspot in his song “5AM in Toronto,” and has even worn the Sotto Sotto name on a leather jacket.

But when Jain asked, “Did you go,” Mondello admitted, “No, not yet. I would love to go… he basically ghosted me.”

The famously foul-mouthed food whiz jokingly added of the rap star, using some Italian slang, “He treated me like a puttane.”

Drake’s favorite hometown restaurant is Toronto’s Sotto Sotto.

He wound up winning rent for eight people on the online show.

Bilt is a startup that allows users to earn rewards points on rent payments. The “Rent Free” show has also so far featured “Shark Tank” judge Kevin O’Leary.
