‘My Sister’s Keeper’ child star Evan Ellingson’s cause of death revealed

Evan Ellingson’s cause of death has been revealed.

The former child star, who was best known for his role in “My Sister’s Keeper,” died from a fentanyl overdose, the coroner’s office at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department told People Tuesday.

The manner of death was ruled an accident.

Ellingson was found dead in his bedroom in Fontana, Calif., on Nov. 5 at the age of 35.

The late actor’s father, Michael Ellingson, later told TMZ that his son had been living at a sober home at the time of his death after battling drug abuse issues.

Michael said he was in shock over Evan’s death, as the “Complete Savages” star had been doing well recently.

However, law enforcement sources told the outlet that drug paraphernalia was found at the scene.

Evan’s family released a statement on his death on Nov. 6.

“Our family is heartbroken by the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, Evan,” they said. “Evan was one of the most caring individuals who loved Jesus with all his heart. He had a sweet, child-like spirit with a smile that could light up a room. He was always thinking of others and wanted to use his own struggles with addiction to help people find hope.”

The family added that Evan had been sober for three years but “recently relapsed” after being prescribed opioids following a dental procedure.

Evan, who started acting at the age of 13, had appeared in several popular TV shows throughout his career, including in his recurring role as Kyle Harmon in “CSI: Miami.”

He also appeared on “General Hospital,” “Titus,” “Mad TV,” “Bones,” “24” and as well as the movies “Letters from Iwo Jima,” “Rules of the Game” and “Walk the Talk.”

“I never had the same [childhood] experience with my friends,” he told the Philippine Star in 2009. “I never had more time with them; however, my childhood was a cool one. I was busy doing the things I love. I had no regrets because I found my passion for acting early on.”
