Paris Hilton insists she was joking when she said she didn’t change her son Phoenix’s diaper for the first month of his life.
“Hey there, it’s Paris. Just wanted to clear the air about something,” she tweeted Wednesday alongside a clip from her show “Paris in Love.”
“I joked about changing a diaper for the first time, which, let’s be honest, was just me having a bit of fun.”
The hotel heiress, 42, shared that she changed her son’s diaper the first night she “brought him home,” which was discussed in the video.
“In all seriousness, when it comes to being a mom, I’m fully involved and loving every moment of it,” she added. “It’s interesting how a playful comment can be taken so seriously.”
Hilton explained that she sometimes plays into the “whimsical character” she portrayed on “The Simple Life,” although she described “Paris in Love” as the most “real, authentic and raw” she has ever been with her fans.
“It’s a role that’s hard to shake off completely. While I love a good laugh, I also believe in being real and responsible, especially as a parent,” she wrote.
“Let’s remember to find the humor in life, but also to cherish and respect the real moments. Thanks for understanding, Happy Holidays and much love to you all!”
Earlier this month, the “House of Wax” star was slammed for saying she waited a month to change the newborn’s diaper.

In January, Hilton announced that she had secretly welcomed Phoenix via surrogate with her husband, Carter Reum.
The reality star told People at the time that it had always been her “dream to be a mother.”
Hilton recently had to defend her 10-month-old son against online trolls who made negative comments about the size of his head after she posted photos of the infant’s first trip to NYC.
“ 🥺😢There are some sick people in this world,” she commented on a fan’s TikTok video in October. “☹️My angel is perfectly healthy.”
Hilton added, “And yes, of course, he has been to a doctor, he just has a large brain.”
The “This Is Paris” star and her husband, also 42, are also parents to daughter London, whom they secretly welcomed via surrogate on Nov. 11.
