Patrick and Brittany Mahomes were each other’s MVPs long before Patrick became the star quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs.
The adorable duo are high school sweethearts who celebrated their first marriage anniversary in 2023.
“One of the best weeks of my life, marrying your best friend it’s one of the greatest things you could do! 🙏🏼,” Brittany gushed in an Instagram tribute to her hubby on their first anniversary.
“Nothing beats doing life with you and these beautiful kiddos of ours! … Year 1 was wild but we got many more to go☺️.”
As she noted, they’ve already started growing their dream team, adding two kids to their brood beginning in 2021.
From high school prom to college graduation to the NFL, take a look at Patrick and Brittany’s sweet relationship.
Humble high school beginnings
Brittany and Patrick began dating when she was a junior and he was a sophomore at Whitehouse High School in Texas.
During a 2020 appearance on “Today,” Patrick remembered their first Christmas together being similar to the 2008 romantic comedy, “Four Christmases.”
“We had to go to each one of our family members’ Christmas parties, and it contains a whole day of going from house to house trying to make sure that we see everybody,” he recalled.
“I think at that point we had been dating for a couple months,” he added.
“Just a normal teenage kid showing up at the family dinner type stuff and being nervous and everything.”
Junior prom official
The lovebirds attended Brittany’s junior prom together in May 2013.
Patrick sweetly called his girlfriend the “best prom date a guy could ask for” in a collage he still has proudly displayed on his Instagram page.

They looked thrilled to be together, and the athlete wore a gold vest to match the sequins that embellished Brittany’s skirt.
Double the prom, double the fun
The pair dressed up once again for prom in May 2014 — and Patrick notably smiled with his sneakers untied.
He once again complimented Brittany for being “the best prom date.”
After that, Brittany graduated and headed off to college.
Long distance lovers
A few hundred miles weren’t going to separate Brittany and Patrick.
After graduating in 2014, Brittany went on to play soccer at the University of Texas at Tyler.
The next year, Patrick headed to Texas Tech University to continue his football career.
Just as she does now, Brittany could often be found cheering on her beau from the sidelines when their schedule allowed.
Despite their long-distance love, Patrick and Brittany were thrilled to adopt a puppy ahead of Valentine’s Day in 2016.
“I’ll take a puppy over flowers and candy anyday💕,” Brittany captioned a photo of her and Patrick holding their new pup.
They still have Steel to this day. They also adopted a second dog named Silver.
Brittany and Patrick go pro
Brittany signed with the Icelandic professional soccer team Afturelding/Fram after graduating from college in 2017.
The same year, Patrick exited college early to join the Kansas City Chiefs when they selected him during the first round of the NFL draft.
Back to long distance
Brittany spent one year playing for Iceland as Patrick settled into Kansas City as a NFL rookie.
Despite being separated by thousands of miles and the Atlantic Ocean, their romance stayed strong.
Patrick even made sure to explore the foreign country with the soccer star.
After her time playing overseas was up, Brittany moved to Kansas City to start her life stateside with Patrick.
Brittany is her man’s No. 1 fan
While Brittany worked on her personal training business called Brittany Lynn Fitness, she made sure to support Patrick as he accepted his 2018 NFL MVP award in February 2019.
“You’re way more than an MVP to me. So proud of this dude, love you lots❤️,” she penned alongside a pic of the pair posing at the awards event.
Super Bowl 2020 champions
Brittany watched Patrick earn his first Super Bowl ring after the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers at the 2020 championship.
Of course, she celebrated the NFL star on Instagram with a series of PDA pics after the big game.
“YOU DID IT BABE❤️💛 #chiefskingdom,” she proudly wrote.
After he secured his Super Bowl ring, Patrick made sure Brittany got some bling of her own.
In September 2020 — while at the Chiefs’ Arrowhead Stadium to pick up his championship ring — the star quarterback asked Brittany for her hand in marriage with a stunning emerald-cut sparkler that Page Six learned could be as large as 10 carats.
The special moment took place in what appeared to be a VIP suite decked out with rose petals, candles, white floral arrangements, and a large, lit-up “Will You Marry Me?” sign.
“On a day that was meant to celebrate you, you turned it into celebrating us,” Brittany gushed in her Instagram post celebrating the moment.
“It’s always us, it’s always you and me. The words you looked into my eyes and said to me at this moment, will NEVER leave my mind!”
“You made this day perfect, you took my entire breath away and I could not have imagined anything better,” the fitness coach continued.
“I love you, forever and always! Cheers to spending our lifetime together and an inseparable bond.”

In October 2020, Patrick and Brittany announced they were having a baby girl during a gender reveal party they hosted for close family and friends on Zoom.
They were able to throw an in-person baby shower in December 2020.
Proud girl parents
Patrick and Brittany welcomed their daughter, Sterling, on Feb. 20, 2021, in Kansas City, Mo.
Their birth announcement showed Sterling’s tiny hand wrapped around Patrick’s finger as Brittany’s manicured fingers rested on his.
Brittany could also be seen wearing a crystal necklace that spelled out her baby girl’s name.
The new parents shared their daughter’s face on social media for the first time in June of that year.
“It almost became like a burden to try to hide her at all times when we do stuff, and this coming season we want her to be at the games and not have to worry about hiding her the entire time.”
He added, “We just want to give her the most normal life that she possibly can so she can grow and have friends and learn and get better and better every single day.”
Walking down the aisle
After celebrating huge family milestones, like their first Mother’s and Father’s Days, their first Christmas with their little one, and Sterling’s first birthday, Brittany and Patrick tied the knot in Maui on March 12, 2022.
The NFL pro looked dapper in a sleek gray suit paired with a white dress shirt and pale gray tie, while his bride stunned in a Versace gown with cutouts on her torso.
Of course, Sterling watched her parents tie the knot and also wore a white dress.
Patrick’s brother, Jason Mahomes, served as the best man, while his teammate Travis Kelce served as a groomsman.
Kelce’s then-girlfriend, Kayla Nicole, stood by Brittany’s side as a bridesmaid.
Following their picturesque Hawaiian wedding, the power couple jetted off to St. Barts in the Caribbean for their honeymoon.
The former soccer pro made sure to post some sizzling bikini shots from their trip and praised Patrick for being such a good photographer.

It’s a boy!
Patrick and Brittany hosted an in-person gender reveal party for their second child in June 2022.
They discovered they’d be having a baby boy in front of their family and friends by spraying a water gun loaded with blue paint onto a white sign that read, “Baby Mahomes … Boy or Girl?”
“Baby boy is already so loved💙,” Brittany captioned a carousel of photos from the spirited event.
Baby boy arrives
The Mahomes family officially became a family of four when they welcomed their second child, son Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, on Nov. 28, 2022.
The thrilled parents shared the exciting news with an image of their boy’s lower half dressed in a light brown and white tie-dye onesie with a crystal chain that read “Bronze” beneath his little feet.
About a week later, Brittany gushed on Instagram over how well Sterling acclimated to being an older sister.
“She has been doing so good as a big sister,” she wrote.
“She loves her brother so much & has been just the best little helper!!”

“I am thankful for the chance to join @brittanylynne as part of the Kansas City Current’s ownership team,” he wrote alongside an Instagram photo that showed the pair holding up a Current scarf.
“She and the Longs have done an incredible job building a world-class organization and I am excited to join another championship-caliber club as it continues to make history.”
Brittany founded the team in December 2020 alongside Chris and Angie Long.
“We are so thrilled to make this a family affair and have Patrick join as an owner,” Brittany said in an official statement.
“He has been a huge supporter behind-the-scenes. His passion for the Current is undeniable and I am glad that he will be with us as we continue on our journey to become the best in the NWSL.”
Patrick was honored with the title of the NFL’s Most Valuable Player for the 2022-2023 season ahead of Super Bowl LVII and made sure to shout his family out during his pre-recorded acceptance speech.
“To my wife Brittany, my baby girl Sterling and my son Bronze, this crazy life that we are living means nothing without y’all, keeping me balanced, and making me appreciate every single day,” he said, according to Us Weekly.
“No matter how I feel coming home, y’all bring me joy and make me appreciate the time that I get to spend with y’all.”
“Thank you for always being there for me, through my good times and my bad. Love y’all.”
Super Bowl 2023 champion
Days later, the pair celebrated Patrick’s second Super Bowl victory by puckering up on the field.
“MY BABY DID IT!!!!!” Brittany raved on X after the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles.
“Patrick and his teammates are DAWGSSSS,” she added in a second tweet.
After the big Super Bowl win, Patrick and Brittany took both their kids to Disney to celebrate.
At the time, Sterling was just shy of 2 years old, while Bronze was 11 weeks old.
In March 2023, Brittany and Patrick celebrated their first wedding anniversary.
Patrick honored the milestone date by sharing a photo of them kissing at their romantic nuptials and a snap from what appeared to be a parents’ night out.
“1 year ❤️,” he simply captioned the post.
Met gala debut
The famous couple made their Met Gala debut at the 2023 affair.
Brittany looked elegant in an off-the-shoulder white gown by Boss that featured a high slit and crystal embellishments along the neckline.
Patrick, meanwhile, dressed up in a black double-breasted suit with a plain white T-shirt underneath.
Patrick praises Brittany
The 15 and the Mahomies Foundation founder opened up about his love for his wife once again during a July 2023 chat with People.
“I have a great wife. … She helps me out a ton by taking stuff off my plate,” he told the outlet at the premiere of Netflix’s docuseries, “Quarterback.”
Brittany didn’t take all the credit, though.
“He has a soft spot, but I think he’s done such an amazing job at balancing his work life and his at-home life, and I think he’s really switched around his priorities and figured it out,” she clarified.
She also sweetly called him the “best father ever.”
Brittany is by Patrick’s side once more
Brittany — who made headlines throughout the 2023-2024 season over her new friendship with Taylor Swift — once again joined her husband on the field after the Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens at the AFC championship game in January 2024.
