Patrick Dempsey calls ‘Today’ show’s Jill Martin ‘sexy’ in show exchange

Patrick Dempsey is making everyone feel their sexiest — despite being named People’s Sexiest Man Alive.

While getting ready to appear on the “Today” show Tuesday morning, the “Grey’s Anatomy” alum spent time in the makeup room with Jill Martin and called her “sexy” while she was complimenting him for his honor.

“‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ is my favorite movie of all time. Guess who’s here?” 47-year-old Martin, who is battling breast cancer, asks on her Instagram stories before panning the camera to Dempsey.

“The Sexiest Man Alive.”

The “Ferrari” actor responded by asking how everyone was doing before he quipped, “You look sexy today! We’re all sexy.”

Upon receiving this year’s honor, 57-year-old Dempsey said he was “glad” it happened at “this point” in his life.

“It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive,” he told People.

“And then I started laughing, like, ‘This is a joke, right? I’ve always been the bridesmaid!’ I’d completely forgotten about it and never even contemplated being in this position,” he added.

“So my ego is good.”

While the “Bridget Jones’s Baby” actor was “shocked” to learn he had been named the recipient, fans of the glossy were surprised he’d received the honor in 2023.

“I mean yes he is v attractive but it’s not 2005, why couldn’t yall pick someone more relevant?” asked on Twitter user.

A second person called the actor — who played Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd on the long-running Shonda Rhimes show from 2005-2015 — “irrelevant.”

“It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive,” he told People.

“Did I time travel? Is this a flashback to 15 years ago?” the user added.

Other fans said they wished the title had gone to Pedro Pascal, star of “The Last of Us.”

The “Made of Honor” actor took the crown from “Captain America” star Chris Evans.
