Patrick Mahomes’ brother, Jackson, helps lost child during Kansas City Chiefs parade shooting

Patrick Mahomes’ brother, Jackson Mahomes, reportedly helped a lost child during the mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2024 Super Bowl parade.

A fellow attendee wrote on social media that she witnessed Jackson’s heroic efforts after the celebratory event in Missouri took a tragic turn Wednesday afternoon.

“I don’t care what anyone says but I have found a new found respect for Jackson Mahomes,” X user @jess6mami began.

“[My friend] Ana and I were stuck hiding with him at union station by the trains and he was taking care of a child who lost his parents and helping him calm down.”

Neither the eyewitness nor Jackson returned Page Six’s requests for additional comment.

Jackson, 23, has been a controversial member of Chiefs Kingdom since he was charged with three felony counts of aggravated sexual battery in May 2023 for allegedly “forcibly kissing” a woman three months prior.

Prosecutors dismissed the charges last month, but he still faces a misdemeanor battery charge.

Many people flocked to X to applaud Jackson for “rising to the occasion” at Wednesday’s parade despite his polarizing past.

“Truly find out about character of people in time of adversity, tragedy whatever you want to call it..one can learn from mistakes and hopefully he has..many great things happened amongst all chaos yesterday..gives hope to us all,” one user wrote.

Several social media users praised Jackson’s actions at the parade. Jackson Mahomes/Instagram

“That is so unexpected and heartwarming. It goes to show that even people with a reputation for being a certain way can surprise us with their actions,” another replied.

“Thank you for posting something positive about JM! Your words made me tear up. All the horrible events today and a ray of sunshine from a very unexpected source,” a third person shared.

Thousands of Chiefs fans were celebrating the team’s Super Bowl LVIII win against the San Francisco 49ers when shots broke out at Union Station, where the players had taken the stage to talk about Sunday’s victory.

Kansas City police later confirmed that at least 23 people were shot and one person, local radio DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan, had died.

Authorities have yet to share the identities of the shooters, but they took three “armed people into custody for more investigation.”

Several Chiefs players –– including quarterback Patrick and tight end Travis Kelce –– subsequently spoke out on social media about the tragedy.
