Pete Davidson ditched his buddy on the biggest night of his career, Page Six hears.
Comic phenom Matt Rife asked the former “SNL” star to be a surprise warm-up act on the first night of his three-night stand at the legendary Radio City Music Hall.
Davidson agreed to do the gig. But, according to Radio City insiders, Davidson backed out just two hours before showtime.
Backstage sources at the Rockefeller Center institution say that Rife’s team had to scramble to find a back-up and eventually got someone lined up with a matter of minutes to go before the curtain went up.
According to a social media post from the show, John Campanelli — who has toured with Rife — ended up filling in for Davidson.
It can’t have been the start to a Radio City run that Rife had hoped for. It was by the far biggest gig of his career so far. Rife, known nearly as much for his movie-star good looks as his act, has graduated from small comedy clubs to one of the country’s biggest stages in around a year.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the only drama to hit the shows.
During the Sunday night show, porn star Lisa Ann, who has co-hosted a radio show with Rife, was lead out of the show in handcuffs by cops.
She claimed she was booted for recording with her phone during his set, but Radio City insiders told The Post that cops only got involved when she became “very disruptive” after she was asked to stop recording. (She has denied she was recording and says she’d done nothing wrong.)
