Prince William speaks out following King Charles III’s cancer diagnosis

Prince William is grateful for the support he and his family have received after his father King Charles III’s cancer diagnosis and his wife Kate Middleton’s abdominal surgery.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you, also, for the kind messages of support for Catherine and for my father, especially in recent days. It means a great deal to us all,” he said Wednesday at a gala for London’s Air Ambulance Charity, per a video shared on X.

“It’s fair to say the past few weeks have had a rather medical focus, so I thought I’d come to an Air Ambulance function to get away from it all,” the Prince of Wales, 41, quipped.

Williams’ short remarks come two days after Buckingham Palace publicly shared the news of Charles’ illness, which was discovered after his prostate enlargement surgery.

“During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer,” the Palace announced on X Monday.

“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”

The statement noted that the British monarch was “grateful to his medical team for their swift intervention, which was made possible thanks to his recent hospital procedure.

“He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.”

The Palace did not disclose what kind of cancer Charles, 75, was diagnosed with.

However, the Daily Mail reported that his prognosis was “good” and his cancer was caught “very early.”
