Rod Stewart leaves luxury hotel staff $12K holiday tip, tells them to bet it on soccer match

What a wonderful world.

Rod Stewart left staff a nearly $13,000 tip upon his and his family’s departure from a five-star hotel in Perthshire, Scotland.

The “Maggie May” crooner stayed with his wife, Penny Lancaster, and two sons Alistair and Liam at the Gleneagles Hotel, where rooms start at about $2,000, for their New Year’s Eve celebrations and lauded the staff’s efforts over the busy holiday season.

“I’ve been lucky enough to stay in some of the top hotels in the world and the service at Gleneagles is second to none,” he told the Daily Record.

“The staff do a terrific job at a very hectic time of the year and deserve every penny. It’s Scottish hospitality at its very best.”

“I advised the boys and girls at Gleneagles to invest the money wisely: stick the lot on Scotland to win the Euros,” he shared. Shutterstock

In addition to leaving the jaw-dropping gratuity, Stewart gave the group a bit of financial advice.

“I advised the boys and girls at Gleneagles to invest the money wisely: stick the lot on Scotland to win the Euros,” Stewart, 78, quipped.

The “Forever Young” singer’s son Sean and his wife, Jody, didn’t appear to join the family on the winter getaway.

The generous gift is just a drop in the bucket for the Grammy winner who listed his Los Angeles estate over the summer for $70 million, choosing instead to make the UK his family’s full-time home.

“Rod is incredible for a man his age and still has boundless energy but he’s always been canny so it’s no surprise that he’s thinking about what happens when he can no longer perform,” a source close to the singer told Page Six of his decision to sell.

“He also wants to make sure everyone is well looked after when he’s no longer around, and he is also really thinking about how he ensures his legacy.”

Stewart also has been in talks to sell his music catalog but has not found an appropriate buyer.
