Sarah Michelle Gellar shares update on ‘warrior’ Shannen Doherty amid cancer battle: ‘She’s fighting’

Sarah Michelle Gellar gave a promising update on her “warrior” friend Shannen Doherty amid her battle with cancer.

“She’s incredible,” the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum told Access Hollywood in an interview published Tuesday.

“When they say a warrior, she is a warrior. She lives every day and she’s fighting.”

Gellar added, “There are ups and downs and there are days that are harder than others and there are some days that are easy, but she’s doing great.”

Doherty, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, revealed in June that the disease had spread to her brain.

The “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum, 52, later shared a video of herself lying in a hospital bed before having surgery.

“When they say a warrior, she is a warrior,” Gellar told Access Hollywood Tuesday. “She lives every day and she’s fighting.”

“I had a tumor in my head they wanted to remove and also biopsy. I am clearly trying to be brave but I am petrified. The fear was overwhelming to me,” she wrote in the caption.

“Scared of all possible bad outcomes, worried about leaving my mom and how that would impact her. Worried that I would come out of surgery not me anymore. This is what cancer can look like.”

More recently, Doherty addressed her cancer battle during an appearance at 90s Con in September, telling the crowd that she is “crying constantly.”

“There are ups and downs and there are days that are harder than others and there are some days that are easy, but she’s doing great,” she added.

“I have a fight for my life, that I deal with every day,” she added. “I think I am really great.”

Despite getting emotional, the actress included some humor by joking about her recent divorce from her third husband, Kurt Iswarienko. The former couple announced their split in April after 11 years of marriage.

“My other profession is getting engaged, married and divorced, and I’m doing that very well,” she quipped at the time.

The “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” alum has been by Doherty’s side since she went public with her diagnosis in 2015.

Meanwhile, Gellar, 46, has been by Doherty’s side throughout her illness.

Back in 2016, she shared a sweet selfie with the former “Charmed” actress and called her a “muse.”

“I’ve always said she is one of the most loyal friends I’ve ever known, and now while she is facing the toughest journey of her life, she is sharing it with friends she has never met in the hopes of helping other people who are going through the same struggle,” Gellar wrote.

“That’s a true friend #F—kCancer.”
