Sarah Ferguson is “taking time” for herself as she undergoes treatment for skin cancer.
After a spokesperson for the Duchess of York announced the surprising news on Sunday, Ferguson updated fans and followers herself with a message on her personal Instagram page.
“I have been taking some time to myself as I have been diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a form of skin cancer, my second cancer diagnosis within a year after I was diagnosed with breast cancer this summer and underwent a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery,” Ferguson, 64, shared alongside a photo of herself enjoying the great outdoors.
“It was thanks to the great vigilance of my dermatologist that the melanoma was detected when it was.”
Ferguson admitted that a second cancer diagnosis came as “a shock” but said she remains in “good spirits and grateful for the many messages of love and support.”
Ferguson implored her followers to be “diligent” about checking their skin for moles and other growths. She also credited luxury medical health resort MAYRLIFE Clinic for “taking gentle care” of her throughout her recuperation over the past few weeks.

“I am resting with family at home now, feeling blessed to have their love and support ❤️🩹,” she concluded her message.
Ferguson, who shares daughters Princess Beatrice, 35, and Princess Eugenie, 33, with the disgraced Prince Andrew, received an influx of prayers and well wishes from fans, including Naomi Campbell.
“Praying for recovery seeming love ❤️ Naomi,” the supermodel commented on the post.
Over the summer, Ferguson underwent a mastectomy and reconstruction following a breast cancer diagnosis. During her reconstruction surgery, the mother of two had multiple moles removed and analyzed by dermatologists, and one of the moles was found to be malignant.
“She is undergoing further investigations to ensure that this has been caught in the early stages,” her spokesperson shared.
“Clearly, another diagnosis so soon after treatment for breast cancer has been distressing, but the Duchess remains in good spirits.”
