Going through a divorce is hard enough, but Sofía Vergara has detailed what it’s like to navigate through one in the public eye.
Page Six revealed in July last year that the “Griselda” actress, 51, and Joe Manganiello, 47, were parting ways after seven years of marriage.
Speaking to CBS Sunday Morning, Vergara said she expected nonstop media scrutiny to erupt after news of their split went public.
“I’ve been moving on. You’re out there [in the public eye] and people know that’s part of being a celebrity,” she shared. “I knew it was gonna happen. You can’t hide those things.”
However, the “Modern Family” alum admitted that news coverage of the pair’s divorce ended up being accurate and straightforward, which made it easier for her to “overcome” the tough period.
“It wasn’t bad,” she said of the coverage. “I think, you know, I have to say the press was very respectful and very nice. And I thought that they were gonna invent more things, and you know how it usually is.”
“I was surprised and, you know, they, they kind of just said what it was and, and that was it,” the mom of one added.
Vergara and Manganiello shared a statement with Page Six exclusively about their decision to part ways in July 2023.
“We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the couple said. “As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
A source also told us that the pair had been “growing apart for a while” and had chosen to take “some distance from each other to contemplate their future.”
Manganiello soon filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split.

He later hired high-powered celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser, who has represented stars like Kevin Costner, Angelina Jolie, and Kim Kardashian.
Various outlets reported that Manganiello’s intense desire to have kids led to the demise of their marriage.
However, conflicting reports suggested that Vergara was “stifled” in her marriage “with a largely unsupportive partner.”
Vergara is mom to son Manolo, 31, whom she shares with ex-husband Joe Gonzalez.
