Sofía Vergara, Terry Crews defend Heidi Klum against diet report

Heidi Klum’s “America’s Got Talent” co-stars are sticking up for the supermodel after false reports that she eats only 900 calories a day swirled online.

“That’s not true because you come into my dressing room and eat my stuff, [like] my sandwiches and stuff,” Sofía Vergara told her fellow judge during a joint “Entertainment Tonight” interview Wednesday.

The ABC show’s host, Terry Crews, then chimed in, “I believe [she eats Vergara’s food],” while Klum called the inaccurate claims “beyond bonkers.”

“I just hate when people lie like that because, especially, you know, there’s so many people out there that follow or read this, and they say, ‘Oh, she does this, so now I’m only gonna eat 900 calories,’” she continued.

The “Making the Cut” star, 50, decided to publicly deny the stories instead of staying silent because she wanted to make sure that her fans did not turn to a restrictive diet and put themselves in harm’s way.

“When it’s about other people’s health, I feel like I have to step in and say, ‘Wait a minute,’” she explained. “I don’t even care about me; I care about everyone who reads that and possibly gets way too thin. Because 900 calories, that’s, like, insane! I would be like a toothpick.”

Klum was first compelled to shut down rumors that she takes in just 900 calories a day after reports surfaced that she maintains the strict regimen to uphold her 138-pound frame.

“I want to say, I don’t think I’ve ever had to count my calories in my life, and don’t believe everything that you read,” she said in a video shared to her Instagram Story Tuesday. “So, I don’t count my calories.”

The former “Project Runway” host called out the media for writing “a bunch of crap” saying “there really is no real journalism anymore.”

“Someone asked me how much I weigh, and I got on the scale and showed how much I weighed,” she added. “One person writes it, and then everyone jumps on it, and it’s really sad because, you know, people read that and they think that and possibly follow that, and that’s not good.”

“I care about everyone who reads that and possibly gets way too thin,” the concerned TV host said.

The Daily Mail published a story claiming Klum only ingests 900 calories after she shared what she ate for breakfast during a Q&A on her Instagram Story earlier this week, in which she also shared her weight by filming herself stepping onto a scale.

The outlet reported that the German-American supermodel told fans she starts her morning off with a breakfast consisting of three poached eggs in warm chicken broth. A scale also showed her weighing in at about 138 pounds.

While she received backlash over the false reports and for sharing her weight, Klum’s body mass index (BMI) is within the normal range given her 5-foot-9-inch height, according to the National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute.

“I don’t think I’ve ever had to count my calories in my life, and don’t believe everything that you read,” she said.

A few years ago, the former Victoria’s Secret Angel openly discussed having a non-restrictive diet.

“In the beginning, I had to [be disciplined about food] and now I’m just so used to it,” she told Red Magazine in 2020. “There are so many choices, just pick the right things. Because then you don’t have the struggle.”

However, in 2008, Klum did admit that she ate small meals every three hours, never ate after 8 p.m. and would have an apple whenever she felt hungry.

She recently promoted healthy eating habits on her Instagram by posing in a sexy one-piece bathing suit while holding bowls of fruit.

“Make sure to eat your fruits and …..🍐🍇🍒🍑🍅🫐🍋🍓🍍🍏🍉🍌🍒🍒🍒🍋🍏🍅🍇😎🇮🇹❤️,” she captioned the photo.

During the controversial Q&A, the Sports Illustrated Swim cover girl also defended the 16-year age gap between her and her 33-year-old husband, Tom Kaulitz.

“Don’t you feel that you’re in the age of Tom’s mom or age really doesn’t matter?” a fan asked, to which the star replied, “I honestly only feel that way when people point it out to me.”
