Sparks were reportedly flying between Sophia Bush and Ashlyn Harris when they first met.
“Sophia and Ashlyn insist they were just friends, but by all accounts, it was instant chemistry,” a source told Us Weekly Thursday.
According to the insider, the pair “bonded over their breakups and having to start over” following their introduction at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June.
Though their first meeting preceded their respective divorce announcements, the source confirmed that they did not begin a romance until their marriages were over.
The actress, 41, filed for divorce from Grant Hughes in August after 13 months of marriage, while the former soccer player, 38, filed for divorce from her wife of four years, Ali Krieger, in September.
Another source confirmed the immediate chemistry between the new couple, telling the outlet that “things already feel really natural between them” after just a few weeks of dating.

“They love being together. They love sports and want to do good in the world,” the second insider added.
Page Six confirmed Bush and Harris were dating last week after photos of the two together were shared online by Canadian soccer player Selenia Iacchelli.
“It’s very new,” a source told us of their blossoming relationship. “They are definitely a couple.”
A source also revealed that the lovebirds had been spotted on a double date in September with Stacy London and her girlfriend, Cat Yezbak.
“Ashlyn snuck into the theater wearing a mask to join Stacy, Cat and Sophia,” the eyewitness told us.
“It wasn’t clear they were on a double date until Stacy moved over so Ashlyn could sit next to Sophia.”
Amid the “John Tucker Must Die” star’s romance with the soccer star, a rep for Hughes exclusively told Page Six that he wants nothing but happiness for his estranged wife.
“Grant will always want the best for Sophia, and is supportive of all that makes her happy and fulfilled,” they said.
However, Harris’ side has been less supportive, with her estranged wife’s brother insinuating that there was infidelity in their marriage in a since-deleted Instagram comment.
“Love you and so proud of you!!” Kyle Krieger wrote in his sister’s comment section. “These hoes ain’t loyal!! But me and your fans are!”
