Sunrise host Matt ‘Shirvo’ Shirvington continues to express concern that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s appearance at the Invictus Games is overshadowing the achievements of the athletes.
His comments come months after South Park took aim at the pair, depicting them as a couple who loudly beg for privacy while drawing attention to themselves.
Shirvington commented on the couple again on Thursday, after Australian athlete Laura Reynell spoke out about her experience of hugging Meghan at the games.

‘There you guys, a glowing report of Meghan,’ newsreader Sally Bowrey ended the segment.
Co-host Nat Barr added: ‘We know she’s a hugger. She’s talked about being a hugger before, remember?’
Shrivington then referred to reports of how the Princess of Wales Kate Middleton didn’t respond warmly to her future sister-in-law’s ‘hug’ when she and Markle first met.
‘She went over to Kate and Wills and started hugging everyone and they’re like ‘woah is that OK?’ he said.
‘I’m a hugger. I bet the Aussies would have accepted them too and gone, ‘yeah come on, come with us.’
Bowrey defended the former royals efforts to champion the Games before Shrivington questioned if it was a quest for attention from the pair.
‘Not bad publicity for them too I reckon,’ he quipped.
The brutal remark stunned his colleagues before they burst into laughter.
‘Come on Shirvo,’ Barr warned.
Shirvington replied: ‘The leaked photos,’ while making an air quotes gesture, indicating he wasn’t convinced.
He then quickly changed the topic and moved to sport.

Three days earlier on Monday, Shirvo expressed his irritation for Harry and Meghan and their involvement with the Invictus Games
He pondered whether the extensive publicity surrounding the couple might overshadow the athletes who have dedicated years of training to reach this stage.
‘When you have this publicity it becomes all about them, then the Invictus Games and all those competitors lose out, don’t they?’ he said.
