Suzanne Somers looked happy and in love in final photo with husband Alan Hamel 2 months before her death

Suzanne Somers spent the end of her life happily in love with her husband, Alan Hamel.

Just two months before her death at the age of 76, the “Three’s Company” star took to Instagram to share a smiling photo with Hamel, 87, along with a sweet message about how he had been there for her throughout her long battle with breast cancer.

“Since I have been taking time off from work, many of you have asked for more details about my health. As you know, I had breast cancer two decades ago, and every now and then it pops up again, and I continue to bat it down,” she captioned the post on July 31.

“I have used the best alternative and conventional treatments to combat it. This is not new territory for me. I know how to put on my battle gear and I’m a fighter. Alan has been by my side every step of the way.”

Somers told fans that she found it difficult to articulate all the ways that Hamel had supported her.

“I can’t even explain how much he has done for me. If it’s even possible, we are even closer than ever,” she wrote.

The actress also thanked her loved ones for aiding in keeping her work afloat.

“My incredible family has been so supportive, and have helped so much by keeping the business running so you can still have access to all the wonderful products,” she shared. “Thank you for the continued love and support.”

Somers concluded her post, “It’s only about who you love and who loves you – and I love you! ✨💛✨.”

The “Step by Step” star and the TV host married in 1977, six years after he finalized his divorce from his first wife, Marilyn Hamel. The exes have two grown children together: Leslie and Stephen.

Meanwhile, Suzanne was previously married to Bruce Somers from 1965 to 1968, and they share 57-year-old son Bruce Somers Jr.

While Suzanne and Alan’s first marriages didn’t last, their union was very successful. In fact, she was very vocal about their flourishing sex life during her later years in life.

In 2020, she admitted that they were having sex a lot while in lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hamel penned his wife a beautiful poem as an early birthday present before her death.

“I have a husband who I inject every Tuesday with testosterone, and Wednesday’s a very good day. We have found a way,” she said at the time. “My girlfriends go, ‘You do not have sex twice a day.’ It’s no forced march.

“I’m in the mood. He’s in the mood. Sometimes it’s once a day. Sometimes later in the day, you’re in the mood again because what are you going to do during this pandemic?”

A year later, Suzanne shared that she and her husband had sex “three times before noon.”

The couple had a thriving sex life.

“God, our relationship has always been amazing,” she said on the “Heather Dubrow’s World” podcast.

“But now that our kids are raised and it’s just me and Al, and we paid for the tuition, we paid for the weddings and helped them get their start — now it’s just us. Man, are we having fun.”

Alan wasn’t just a good lover; he was also a romantic.

Suzanne “read the poem and went to bed and later died peacefully in her sleep,” a source told People.

His poem reportedly read: “What brand of love do I feel for my wife, Suzanne? … The closest version in words isn’t even close.

“It’s not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction. Unconditional love does not do it. I’ll take a bullet for you doesn’t do it. I weep when I think about my feelings for you.”

“There are no words. There are no actions. No promises. No declarations,” Alan added. “Even the green shaded scholars of the Oxford University Press have spent 150 years and still have failed to come up with that one word.

“So I will call it, ‘us,’ uniquely, magically, indescribably wonderful ‘us.’”

Somers died just one day before her 77th birthday.
