Teddi Mellencamp showed off her gruesome surgery scar after revealing she had part of her shoulder “cut out” as she continues to battle skin cancer.
The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum, 42, gave fans an update on her “wide excision melanoma,” which left a significant scar on her upper back.
“Someone just messaged me that my scar looks like a whale swallowing bubbles. It made me laugh,” the reality TV star captioned an Instagram post Saturday of the intense wound.
Mellencamp, who was diagnosed with her 13th melanoma in September, asked her followers to share what they thought the scar resembled.
“I am not very artistic so I see a just see a ‘Z’— what do you see?* *funnyresponsesonly,” she went on, adding the hashtag “#SkinCancerAwareness” and tagging “@curemelanoma.”
Fellow Bravolebrity Emily Simpson commented, “I see a badass 🔥❤️,” while the “Bachelor” alum Kailtyn Bristowe echoed the sentiment, writing, “I see a bad ass woman.”

The photos come a few days after Mellencamp revealed she underwent a “soft tissue defect reconstruction with adjacent tissue rearrangement.”
Her doctors “cut out” a large portion of her shoulder and “replaced it with a flap of skin” from her lower back.
“I promise you do not want to go through this,” she warned her followers, noting that the “pain and discomfort” was ultimately “worth it.”
“It’s pretty painful, but I’m so grateful that they did such a great job,” she mumbled in a selfie video taken immediately after the surgery.
“My back skin’s tight. Struggle bus. But I’m hoping they got it all,” she added in the clip, in which bandages and gauze could be seen poking out from behind her neck and shoulders.
Since the mother of three announced her stage 2 melanoma diagnosis in October 2022, she has undergone multiple procedures to remove several melanomas and lymph nodes around her body.
She was declared cancer-free last January, however her doctors later found new spots they biopsied out of caution.
She eventually underwent another surgery in September, joking to her followers at the time, “I can’t even remember if this is the 12th or 13th [melanoma].”
