Never in Travis Kelce’s wildest dreams did he expect talking about his failed attempt at giving Taylor Swift a friendship bracelet to get her attention.
“I never thought it would’ve landed,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said during a pre-Super Bowl 2024 press conference Wednesday.
Kelce, 34, shared that he “didn’t even think” he would get “a response” from Swift, also 34, when he declared his interest in her on his “New Heights” podcast.
“We’re here, and we’re all happy. I know that,” he gushed.
In July 2023, the NFL player told his podcast listeners that he tried to give the pop superstar a bracelet with his phone number on it when he attended her Eras Tour stop in Kansas City, Mo.
“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” he said at the time.
Kelce joked he “took it personal” when he found out Swift does not meet anyone around showtime.
“I was a little butthurt that I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her,” he shared.
Unbeknownst to the athlete, someone close to the Grammy winner heard the episode and encouraged her to reach out to him.
Kelce has since referred to the middleman as their “Cupid,” but he and Swift have kept the person’s identity under wraps.
The two-time Super Bowl champion recently divulged that he and the “Anti-Hero” singer had been dating for about a month before going public with their romance when she attended her first Chiefs game last September.
The duo have been going strong ever since, even packing on the PDA and professing their love for each other after Kelce advanced to the Super Bowl on Jan. 27.
The “Cruel Summer” singer and her boyfriend have not been spotted together since the triumphant victory, though.

Swift has been busy snagging two awards at the 2024 Grammys last weekend, while Kelce has been training for his championship game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
In between practices, Kelce has participated in a slew of interviews where he has given more insight into their highly publicized relationship.
The footballer divulged that his favorite Swift is “Anti-Hero” and that he has heard “some of” the songs from her forthcoming album, and he even played coy about popping the question.
Meanwhile, Swift resumed her Eras Tour in Tokyo on Wednesday.
However, Page Six previously confirmed that she will make the trek to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl.
