Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s parents are expected to meet during the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles game Monday night — but the pop star won’t be there.
The “Cruel Summer” singer, who was forced to cancel her Eras Tour concert Saturday night after a fan died amid sweltering temperatures in the Brazilian capital, will take the stage for her rescheduled show Monday.
While Swift has spent time with Kelce’s parents, and the two-time Super Bowl champ was spotted at the Era’s Tour in Argentina with her dad, the two sets of parents are yet to meet each other.
“Taylor and Travis have met each other’s parents so it only makes sense that they’d want their parents to meet each other as things between them are getting really serious,” an insider told Us Weekly earlier this month.
“Taylor and Travis both have a very close bond with their parents and it’s really important that their families blend seamlessly, as well.”
It comes amid the news that one of Swift’s fans, who was identified as Ana Clara Benevides, died ahead of her show in Rio Friday.
“I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show,” the Grammy winner, 33, wrote in a statement, noting she was “overwhelmed by grief.”
“I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this.”
The “Bad Blood” hitmaker said she has “very little information” about the fan’s death “other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.”
“I’m not going to be able to speak about this from stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to talk about it,” Swift said of the fan, however, she later performed “Bigger Than the Whole Sky,” which many interpreted as a tribute to the college student.
Meanwhile, Kelce, 34, sat down for an interview in which he finally addressed how he and Swift began their romance.
Although the tight end attempted to get her attention with a friendship bracelet when she performed at Arrowhead Stadium, Kelce ultimately made his feelings known through someone in her inner circle.
“There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was, in her corner [who said]: ‘Yo! Did you know he was coming?’ I had somebody playing Cupid,” he told WSJ. Magazine Monday.
The unidentified “cupid” played their part perfectly, as Kelce discovered a text from Swift on his phone one day.
“[The Cupid] told me exactly what was going on and how I got lucky enough to get [Swift] to reach out,” he recalled.
The “Love Story” singer and the hunky athlete made their relationship public in September, and haven’t been shy about spending time with each other’s families.
Kelce dished on meeting Taylor’s dad, Scott Swift, on last week’s episode of “New Heights.”
“[Taylor’s dad is] a huge football guy,” he gushed to his brother, Eagles star Jason Kelce. “He played college ball … I believe he was a line-backer turned center.”
He also teased his big brother by revealing he turned Scott — a lifelong Eagles fan — into a Kansas City supporter.
“Got him over to the good side, baby,” he teased. “Just one by one, getting all the good ones to come on over.”
