Eagle-eyed Taylor Swift fans have focused on their favourite popstar’s smile for several years.

The singer, who is famously dating Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce, has sported a chipped canine for the best part of a decade.

In 2013, Swift accidentally hit herself in the face with her microphone while performing on stage, causing part of her tooth to fall off.

But according to astute fans and dentists on TikTok, the missing piece of enamel has finally been replaced.

One fan on Instagram wrote last month: ‘I think it’s so cute how she stuck with the chipped tooth for TEN years and honestly I think she’s beautiful before and after she got it fixed.’

Dr Joyce Kahng, a cosmetic dentist and owner of O+M Dental Studio in California, suggests that Taylor likely got new veneers that cover up her chipped tooth

Meanwhile on TikTok, Dr Joyce Kahng, a cosmetic dentist and owner of O+M Dental Studio in California, suggested that the chip was covered up by a whole new set of veneers – coverings that fit over the front surfaces of your teeth to make them appear more uniform.

She speculated that the megastar, who this week was named Time magazine’s Person of The Year, underwent an ‘express service’ at the end of September.

‘What’s common with celebrities is that they often pay to have a one-day turnaround,’ said Dr Kahng, in a video with more than 2.9million views.

‘She probably went in on the 27th, and by the 29th, they were installed.’

But that’s not all Swift is rumored to have had done.

According to dental experts on social media, the Eras Tour sensation has endured a collection of procedures over the years in order to perfect her smile.

Braces, veneers and gum operations have, over the years, cost her more than $30,000, the experts suggest.

Here, they detail exactly which dental treatments have helped transformed the girl next door into the global icon she is today.

First, there were braces, which can cost up to $6,000, according to Dr Vikas Prinja, a UK-based dentist.

Looking at an image of teenage Taylor, Dr Prinja said that her front teeth are naturally a bit crowded, and her lateral incisors – the teeth right alongside the canines – are a bit long.

‘Her canine teeth didn’t drop completely, so they’re a bit high,’ he said in a TikTok video that’s been viewed 1.7 million times.

Taylor also had braces as a teen, though Dr Prinja suspects she may have gotten them off too early because one of her canines wasn’t fully brought down to a normal height.

‘The gumline is much higher than the rest of her teeth,’ he said.

In 2008, Taylor posted a video to her YouTube Channel showing her getting fitted for new retainer molds, as she kept forgetting to wear it while touring.

Fast forwarding a few years, Dr Prinja also speculates that Taylor started using veneers to make her teeth appear more even.

‘Her peg-shaped lateral incisors now look like they’re a full shape. Her front two teeth look like they’ve got a little bit of translucency, and her back teeth look much more opaque and white,’ he said.

Veneers – used to correct stained, crooked, misaligned, or chipped teeth – vary in price.

Though generally they cost between $250 and $2,500 per tooth. In some larger cities like New York City, they can top $4,000 per tooth.

This means a full set of eight veneers can range from $2,000 to $32,000.

Most recently, there’s been a treatment called gum contouring – also known as a gum lift, according to Dr Kahng.

Comparing a historic photo to one from a few weeks ago, Dr Kahng suggested that Taylor’s chipped tooth was much higher up into the gums than it appeared to be now

Gum contouring, which costs up to $350 per tooth, can correct this by removing excess tissue to reshape the gum line.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, the procedure takes one to two hours and can require sedation.
