I’m a personal trainer – here’s how you can get doll-like feet like Barbie star Margot Robbie

  • Fans went wild for Margot Robbie’s perfectly poised feet in new Barbie trailer
  • Personal trainers say going barefoot and practicing toe lifts can help tone feet

Barbie, the highly anticipated summer blockbuster, already has people swooning… over Margot Robbie’s doll-like feet.

In the now iconic scene, revealed in the trailer for the film, the blonde star removes her heels but as she steps out her feet are still arched, leaving her toes pointed as if she was wearing an invisible pair of heels.

The image caused Barbie fans to go wild on social media with many commenting on how ‘pretty’ the actress’s feet are.

Even Barbie director Greta Gerwig is a fan, revealing she refused to use CGI on 33-year-old Margot because she had the ‘nicest feet’.

Filmmaker Greta Gerwig, 39, explained she decided against using computer-generated imagery because the actress Margot Robbie, 33, already has 'the nicest feet'

But aside from getting a pedicure, you may be wondering how you can get perfectly toned feet just like Margot herself.

Matt Roberts, personal trainer to the likes Adele and Naomi Campbell, has revealed the perfect workout that will strengthen and tone your feet.

One of the most surprising tips is that wearing shoes can make your feet ‘lazy’, according to Mr Roberts.

He instead suggests going barefoot around your house as much as possible.

‘We need to stimulate the muscles in the foot arch to ensure that they don’t weaken and collapse, as wearing shoes provides easy support and assistance,’ he said.

Another tip Mr Roberts has for perfectly-toned feet is exercising the arches on a regular basis.

To do this, he says you should sit down with bare feet, grab a towel and place it on the floor.

Then, try to scrunch the towel up under your foot by pulling your toes towards you, while pointing your toes straight.

Mr Roberts said: ‘Imagine if you had your hands flat on a surface and you crunched your hands in by contracting at your palms, it is the same but by using the soles of your feet.

‘Perform reps until you feel the fatigue kick in and then rest and stretch the feet before repeating for a few sets.’

The celebrity personal trainer also suggests simply massaging the arches.

You can do this manually or by using a tennis ball to stand on and performing circular movements around your arch.

Mr Roberts said: ‘These approaches of exercising and mobilising the feet whilst helping move some fluid will give the best chance of making some changes.’

Practicing picking up objects with your toes and exercising your calves can also help you strengthen your feet, according to Gloucestershire-based personal trainer Lee Mitchell.

‘Marble pick-up exercises can enhance dexterity and toe strength; place marbles or small objects on the floor and use your toes to pick them up and place them into a container,’ he said.

‘Calf raises can also contribute to toned feet by engaging the muscles in both your calves and feet.

‘For this one, you need to stand with your feet hip-width apart, rise onto your tiptoes, hold momentarily and then lower yourself back down.’

He also suggests practicing toe lifts and scrunches.

To do this move sit or stand and then lift your toes while keeping your heels planted, and, over time, gradually increase the number of repetitions.

Follow this up by trying to spread your toes as far apart as possible and relax them before repeating.

But the personal trainer says it’s important to remember that everyone is unique and results will vary depending on your level of fitness.
