Having gotten off to the perfect start away against Athletic Club last weekend, Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid side will be looking to get as many points on the board as possible whilst there is just La Liga to worry about.
They’re heading away from home again for the second game of the season as they take on Almeria down at the Estadio Mediterraneo. They got the 2023/24 season off to a disappointing start as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Rayo Vallecano.
It has been a fairly turbulent week or so for Real Madrid when it comes to injuries, and they have been forced to dip into the transfer market to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea. Fans will be intrigued to see if the Spaniard is going to make his Real Madrid debut here.

Almeria will be without two important players in Leo Baptistao and Martin Svidersky as they are recovering from Achilles and knee injuries respectively. They will both be on the sidelines for some time.
There are calls from fans for the Almeria coach to make a raft of changes after the Rayo Vallecano, but he is expected to stand by the majority of that starting eleven. He may bring Marc Pubill and Sergio Arribas into the starting eleven to make a change.

As mentioned, it has been a turbulent time for injuries at Real Madrid with Thibaut Courtois tearing his ACL and Eder Militao also suffering a long-term knee injury during the Athletic Club match. Arda Guler also recently underwent surgery for a knee injury of his own.
Ferland Mendy and Dani Ceballos remain out injured, so Carlo Ancelotti is not working with a full squad this weekend and won’t be for a very long time. Kepa is expected to come straight into the starting eleven, whilst Antonio Rudiger should replace Militao.

Real Madrid may be struggling with a few injuries at the moment and there are also still fears about just how prolific they can be upfront, but they have no business losing to Almeria and the head-to-head record shows that.
Almeria are likely to be battling it out towards the bottom of the table this season, whilst Ancelotti’s side are expected to be fighting for the title. That trio of Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo will be a lot for Almeria to handle and another win should be on the way.
