Arsenal predicted lineup vs Man Utd

Arsenal’s friendly preparations for the new season will ramp up a notch on Saturday when they face off against old foes Manchester United.

The Gunners are two games deep into their summer tour and recorded their first win last time out as a strong side comfortably bested the MLS All-Stars 5-0, and they’ll be desperate to make it two on the bounce at United’s expense.

Here’s how Mikel Arteta could set up for this one.

Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice, Gabriel Martinelli

GK: Aaron Ramsdale – Ramsdale didn’t have a whole lot to do in his last outing and, on a personal level, will hope to get a little more practice in here.

RB: Jurrien Timber – A really impressive debut from the positionless Timber against the MLS outfit. He may line up at right-back but he definitely won’t stay there.

CB: William Saliba – Arteta would like to bump Saliba’s involvement but much will depend on whether club doctors think he is ready to do so, having only recently returned from a back problem.

CB: Gabriel Magalhaes – As the new season inches ever closer, Gabriel may be among a core group who start to play a few more minutes.

LB: Kieran Tierney – Tierney was deployed in a more central role last time out and looked very comfortable there. Similar to Timber, don’t expect him to stick to a full-back spot.

DM: Declan Rice – After coming off the bench in midweek, Rice may be handed his first unofficial start here.

CM: Martin Odegaard – Odegaard is another who could do with ramping up his minutes as things start to get a bit more serious.

CM: Kai Havertz – A much-needed volleyed goal has eased some of the pressure on Havertz after an inauspicious summer thus far.

RW: Bukayo Saka – Saka was handed the MVP award in the All-Star game and will hope to carry that devastating form over into this one.

ST: Gabriel Jesus – Arteta has tried to split his minutes between all his strikers but Jesus, as the normal starter, should get the focus from this point onwards.

LW: Gabriel Martinelli – Leandro Trossard has picked up injuries in each of Arsenal’s two games this summer, so the Belgian will probably have a watching brief.
