Arsenal vs Manchester United – Premier League: TV channel, team news, lineups & prediction

Arsenal host Manchester United on Sunday in one of the 2023/24 Premier League behemoth clashes between two English giants.

The Gunners are two points off the pace set by last season’s title winners Manchester City after their dramatic 2-2 draw with Fulham last time out.

United are a point behind in eighth after claiming their second unconvincing win of the season with a 3-2 comeback triumph over Nottingham Forest.

Here’s what you need to know about Sunday’s fixture.

Gabriel Jesus made his first appearance of the season as a late substitute against Fulham and Mikel Arteta is now faced which a choice between starting the Brazilian up front or back Eddie Nketiah who struck in that 2-2 draw. The 24-year-old has since been called up into the England squad.

Takehiro Tomiyasu is available again after serving a one-game suspension for his red card at Crystal Palace. Summer signing Jurrien Timber is a long-term absentee but the Gunners have few worries elsewhere in their squad.

An unconvincing defensive display last time out may see Gabriel Magalhaes thrown back into the starting XI at centre-back.

Arsenal predicted lineup vs Manchester United (4-3-3): Ramsdale; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Partey, Rice, Odegaard; Saka, Nketiah, Martinelli.

Raphaël Varane, Diogo Dalot

The absences of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia provoked Man Utd into returning to the transfer market for a left-back, with Sergio Reguilon arriving on loan. He may not be thrown into action straight away, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot expected to take the full-back positions at the Emirates.

Raphael Varane will be out for a month which will leave Victor Lindelof to partner Lisandro Martinez in central defence. Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo are also on the treatment table, but new arrival Rasmus Hojlund trained with the first-team this week and could be involved.

Anthony Martial was ineffectual in the starting XI against Forest but could be given another opportunity unless Marcus Rashford is deployed centrally or Jadon Sancho plays in the role he did during pre-season.

Manchester United predicted lineup vs Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Martinez, Dalot; Casemiro, Eriksen; Antony, Fernandes, Rashford; Martial.

Arsenal haven’t quite clicked into gear but are still unbeaten and may view a home clash with long-time rivals Man Utd as the perfect opportunity to lay down a marker to the rest of the Premier League.

Man Utd’s injury issues weaken Erik ten Hag’s starting XI significantly but main goal threats Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes will be in action, so expect United to bite back if given the opportunity.

However, the Red Devils’ recent away record is poor and they may be ultimately overwhelmed by Arsenal’s attacking quality.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-2 Manchester United
