Barcelona’s appointment of Xavi Hernandez marked the dawn of a prosperous new era for the Catalan club.
While financial woes continue to cloud La Blaugrana, Xavi’s rebuild culminated in the La Liga title last season. Combining stellar talent from overseas with produce of their own to harmonious effect, supporters will hope last season’s title win is just the start of the club’s success with their former midfielder at the helm.
Barcelona’s impressive campaign last time out should see their players duly rewarded in the virtual world when it comes to their ratings for EA Sports’ new football game set for release in September 2023.
As it was in Barcelona a couple of years a go, a new dawn beckons for EA after they cut ties with FIFA following a lengthy and iconic partnership.
Here’s how every Barcelona squad member is rated in EA Sports FC 24.

Robert Lewandowski was the joint-highest rated striker on FIFA 23 with Kylian Mbappe and should have done enough to claim that honour once again in EA Sports FC 24. The Poland international enjoyed a fine debut season in Catalonia, claiming the Pichichi Trophy with 21 La Liga goals.
Although, Erling Haaland’s record-breaking campaign over in the Premier League could see him emerge as the new game’s top dog. Nevertheless, Lewandowski’s rating should be around the 91-mark once again and he’s a sure bet to be the club’s highest-rated player again.
Marc-Ander ter Stegen and Frenkie de Jong could also earn small upgrades given their roles in Barcelona’s title win.
No Barca player will earn a bigger upgrade than Alejandro Balde, however. The young Spaniard blossomed into a star down Xavi’s left flank last season and will undoubtedly soften the blow of Jordi Alba’s departure moving forward. Balde was a 68-rated silver card at the start of FIFA 23, but he earned a 93-rated Team of the Season card at the end of the year. Balde’s upgrade will be close to +15. Gavi, who was a 79-rated non-rare card last time out, should also earn a healthy upgrade.
There shouldn’t be many major downgrades given the club’s impressive domestic campaign. However, Ferran Torres only played a bit-part role and might not be worthy of another 82 rating. Marcos Alonso could also be knocked down from his 79 rating.
