Bayern Munich vs Freiburg – Bundesliga: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction

Bayern Munich’s somewhat mixed start to the season continues on Sunday when they host Freiburg in the Bundesliga.

Bayern are yet to lose a game in the German top flight in 2023/24 but are two points behind Bayer Leverkusen at the summit, having drawn two of their opening six games.

Having had to come from behind against Kobenhavn in the Champions League on Tuesday, Thomas Tuchel’s side will be looking for a routine win on Sunday against their fellow southerners. Freiburg are hovering in eighth place with a respectable but unspectacular record.

Here’s all you need to know about Bayern Munich vs Freiburg in the Bundesliga this Sunday.

Bayern Munich have a handful of important players out injured but not quite enough to constitute an injury crisis. They are without long-term absentee Manuel Neuer on Sunday, as well as centre-back Matthijs de Ligt and winger Serge Gnabry.

The latest player to pick up an injury is Tarek Buchmann, an 18-year-old defender who has been on the cusp of the first team this season. It’s likely Tuchel will pick largely the same team that beat Kobenhavn in midweek, even if it wasn’t a vintage display.

Bayern Munich predicted lineup vs Freiburg (4-2-3-1): Ulreich; Mazraoui, Upamecano, Kim, Davies; Laimer, Kimmich; Tel, Musiala, Coman; Kane.

Freiburg are expected to be without five senior players for the trip to Bayern on Sunday, meaning they’ll do very well to get anything from the game.

Yannik Keitel, Michael Gregoritsch, Max Rosenfelder, Daniel-Kofi Kyereh and Christian Gunter are all set to miss the match, meaning there is little scope for changes after the midweek loss to West Ham.

Freiburg predicted lineup vs Bayern Munich (4-4-2): Atubolu; Sildillia, Ginter, Lienhart, Kubler; Sallai, Eggestein, Hofler, Grifo; Doan, Holer.

Freiburg had a very tough game against West Ham on Thursday night while Bayern’s European match was played on Tuesday, giving the German champions a few extra days of rest.

Beyond that, there is too much quality in the Bayern squad to believe the away team can claim anything from this Bundesliga fixture, so expect the champions to enter the international break with a win.

Prediction: Bayern Munich 3-1 Freiburg
