Burnley vs Liverpool – Premier League: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction

After a couple of days off to celebrate Christmas, it’s back to business for Liverpool on Boxing Day as they travel to Burnley.

The Reds played out an entertaining 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday evening, with Mohamed Salah earning a point for Jurgen Klopp’s side after Gabriel’s early opener.

Liverpool are heavy favourites to pick up a win at struggling Burnley, but they will no pushovers on their own patch, particularly as they come into the game fresh from a much-needed 2-0 win at Fulham.

Here’s 90min’s preview of the game.

Burnley have no fresh injury concerns from their win at Craven Cottage, with Vincent Kompany potentially considering an unchanged lineup.

Luca Koleosho is sidelined with a knee injury and will miss the next few weeks, but Johann Berg Gudmundsson, Jack Cork and Aaron Ramsey are nearing fitness. Jay Rodriguez could get the nod up front ahead of the recently returned Lyle Foster.

Burnley predicted lineup (4-4-2): Trafford; Da Silva, O’Shea, Beyer, Taylor; Bruun Larsen, Berge, Brownhill, Odobert, Rodriguez, Amdouni

Liverpool were dealt further injury blows against Arsenal, depleting a team already missing key players.

Klopp confirmed Kostas Tsimikas broke his collarbone after colliding with his manager on the touchline, while Luis Diaz’s participation is in doubt after he clashed knees with Bukayo Saka.

Joel Matip and Andrew Robertson are long-term absentees, but Diogo Jota, Alexis Mac Allister, Thiago and Stefan Bajcetic are nearing returns to action.

Liverpool predicted lineup (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Van Dijk, Gomez; Szoboszlai, Endo, Gravenberch; Salah, Gakpo, Nunez

With the chance to go top of the table within their grasp, expect Liverpool to come out firing at Turf Moor.

The Reds may be blunted by injuries to key personnel, but they have lost just once on the road in nine games. Burnley, meanwhile, have the worst home record in the Premier League, losing eight of the nine matches played in front of their own support.

The Clarets would appear to lack the firepower to really hurt Liverpool, and they could leak a few goals too if Liverpool’s players bring the shooting boots they used in the Carabao Cup quarter-final demolition of West Ham.

Prediction: Burnley 1-3 Liverpool
