Chelsea vs Sheffield United – Premier League: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction

Chelsea’s Premier League campaign under Mauricio Pochettino has stuttered so far and they come into Saturday’s visit from Sheffield United aiming to avoid a third consecutive league defeat.

The Blues followed up a limp loss against Manchester United at Old Trafford with a poor display in defeat away at Everton. Things are getting away from Pochettino again, so a home game against the bottom side might be just what the doctor ordered.

However, Sheffield United picked up their first win under Chris Wilder last weekend as they beat Brentford 1-0, meaning they are going to be the most confident iteration of the Blades all season.

Here is all you need to know about Sheffield United’s trip to Stamford Bridge this Saturday.

Chelsea’s injury woes just keep on going and the match at Goodison Park saw goalkeeper Robert Sanchez and right-back Reece James join a crowded treatment room. Club captain James is becoming seriously injury-prone and could be out for a long time, again.

Sanchez’s knee problem is believed to be more minor but if he is unable to start against Sheffield United, then Djordje Petrovic should fill in. Marc Cucurella also withdrew with an ankle issue, joining a fleet of long-term absentees.

Chelsea predicted lineup vs Sheffield United (4-2-3-1): Petrovic; Disasi, Silva, Badiashile, Colwill; Fernandez, Caicedo; Sterling, Gallagher, Palmer; Jackson.

There are going to be some defensive changes for Sheffield United to make as well on Saturday as Jack Robinson is suspended after collecting five yellow cards. The Blades are getting Oli McBurnie and Oliver Norwood back from their suspensions, though.

Auston Trusty is expected to move inside to centre-back, while there will be a battle between the likes of Luke Thomas, Yasser Larouci and Max Lowe to start at left-back.

Sheffield United predicted lineup vs Chelsea (4-5-1): Foderingham; Bogle, Ahmedhodzic, Trusty, Lowe; McAtee, Norwood, Souza, Hamer, Archer; McBurnie.

Chelsea have dropped into some horrible form again and the idea of pushing into the Champions League places seems almost laughable at this point, but they are up against one of the worst teams in the league right now.

Fans of the Blues have done well to stay behind the team as best they can this season and with a bit of help from the stands, Pochettino should be able to get a win here. Whether it could be a platform for Chelsea to build from is far less certain.

Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Sheffield United
