Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bayern Munich – Bundesliga: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction

Having enjoyed a weekend off, Bayern Munich will hope the snow stays away as they travel to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

A wintry downpour meant their home game against Union Berlin couldn’t go ahead last weekend, but they were nonetheless aided by Borussia Dortmund‘s point at title rivals Bayer Leverkusen. Bayern’s deficit at the summit is now just three points with a game in hand.

Bayern’s shock defeat to Saarbrucken in the DFB-Pokal afforded Thomas Tuchel’s side a free week, but Saturday’s opponents had a cup tie to contest. Incredibly, Frankfurt were also stunned by the same third-tier outfit as Saarbrucken advanced into the quarter-finals of the competition.

Results have taken a dip as of late after the Dino Toppmoller era started with plenty of promise – Frankfurt host Bayern on the back of four consecutive defeats across all competitions.

Here’s 90min’s preview of Bayern’s trip to Frankfurt on Saturday.

The hosts are without several players this weekend, and many of their current absentees aren’t expected to return until after Christmas.

Timothy Chandler, Kristijan Jakic and Sebastian Rode have all been struck down by calf injuries, but the latter is expected to return soon. Jens Petter Hauge and Elyes Skhiri are sidelined with respective back and thigh issues.

Mehdi Loune is a long-term absentee with a cruciate ligament injury.

Frankfurt predicted lineup vs Bayern (4-3-3): Trapp; Tuta, Koch, Pacho, Max; Aaronson, Larsson, Dina Ebimbe; Buta, Marmoush, Knauff.

Having enjoyed a week off, Bayern have had time to declutter the treatment room in Bavaria. However, Tuchel remains without defender Matthijs de Ligt for Saturday’s game.

The scarcely used right-back Bouna Sarr is also set to miss the remainder of the season with a cruciate ligament injury.

Jamal Musiala trained ahead of the postponed Union Berlin clash and should start at the weekend.

Bayern predicted lineup vs Frankfurt (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Mazraoui, Upamecano, Kim, Davies; Kimmich, Goretzka; Coman, Musiala, Sane; Kane.

To get a result against Bayern, teams have got to be playing with plenty of confidence and no inhibitions. Having been dumped out of the DFB-Pokal to Saarbrucken in midweek to extend their winless run to five games, Frankfurt certainly won’t be swaggering around on Saturday.

Bayern may have a little bit of rust early on in the contest, and this isn’t an easy ground to visit, but Tuchel’s side should find their groove. A win on the road would move the defending champions level on points with Leverkusen ahead of their huge trip to Stuttgart on Sunday.

Prediction: Eintracht Frankfurt 1-3 Bayern Munich
