It looks set to be a tough week for fantasy managers to navigate.

Manchester City star and FPL favourite Erling Haaland is a big doubt for the weekend and does not have a game in Gameweek 18 due to his side’s participation in the Club World Cup. Plenty of managers have decided it’s time to transfer him out, but who’s primed to take the big Norwegian’s spot up front?

I’ve picked out the top replacements in conjunction with Fantasy Football Hub’s powerful AI Points Predictions tool to show their predicted points for FPL Gameweek 17.

Dominic Solanke

Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke looks set to be the most transferred in player this week and a favourite to replace Haaland, as the balance of form and fixtures swings in his favour. The Cherries striker has two goals in his last four gameweeks.

Solanke has a plum home tie this weekend against a fragile Luton Town defence which hasn’t kept a clean sheet this season. The wider schedule looks just as attractive, with Nottingham Forest and Fulham coming up over the festive period.

Ollie Watkins

For those managers who sold Ollie Watkins when he was an injury doubt a few weeks ago, this is a perfect opportunity to bring the Aston Villa striker back in. He looks set to have his best ever fantasy season, with eight goals and nine assists to date.

He is an ever-present in this side, with just one early substitution since the opening phases of the season. Opponents Brentford have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last six games, conceding ten goals in this time.

Darwin Nunez

An alternative option for our forward lines is Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez who has two assists in his last four starts. He’s had five big chances on goal during this time, once again displaying his potential for fantasy points.

The last time Man Utd visited Anfield, Nunez scored a brace in a 7-0 win. Man Utd have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last three games conceding five goals, with Jonny Evans likely to start at centre-back given their injury crisis.
