Gameweek 18 provides another difficult captaincy decision in Fantasy Premier League, with Erling Haaland not in the frame as Manchester City blank due to the Club World Cup.

FPL favourites Mohamed Salah, Son Heung-min and Bukayo Saka all failed to return points last week, making the armband decision before Crystal Palace’s clash with Brighton on Thursday night all the more difficult.

With the help of Fantasy Football Hub’s powerful AI Points Predictions tool, here are the best captain choices for FPL Gameweek 18.

Son Heung-min

Spurs captain Son Heung-min headlines the algorithm picks this week for the visit of Everton. His move back out wide in recent games hasn’t hindered his output, with two goals and three assists in this time.

Son offers plenty of routes to point with his goal threat and creativity and has benefitted from Ange Postecoglou’s all out attack approach so far this season. However, the Toffees do come into this game with four consecutive clean sheets.

Mohamed Salah

Liverpool have the toughest fixture of the weekend as they host Arsenal at Anfield, but AI still rates Salah highly in the captaincy conversation, with one goal and two assists in the last four gameweeks alone and just one blank on home turf this season.

Salah sits top for shots in the last four gameweeks with 15, including three big chances on goal. He’s also created 12 chances for his teammates in this time, including two big chances created. Visitors Arsenal have just one clean sheet in their last four outings.

Ollie Watkins

Forward Ollie Watkins’ predicted points might be lower than his midfield counterparts, but he perhaps has the best fixture of the weekend at home to Sheffield United, who have conceded a league-high 43 goals this campaign.

Watkins doesn’t have penalties in his locker but that hasn’t hindered him in his best ever FPL season, with 18 attacking returns from the opening 17 gameweeks. Ten of those goal involvements have come at home and he also boasts two goals and an assist in the last four gameweeks.
